I'm going to go with the version of The Riddler from Batman: Arkham Asylum/Arkham City. The level of arrogance in every word he spoke made me want to strangle him.

Ceasar from Fallout NV....he is the personification of every philosiphy and belive I hate...he's also an arrogant prick and a fucking hypocrite, unfortunatly I didn't kill him because I thourght I'd get a proper standoff with him which didnt happen

the illusive man and Kei leng...obviously alot of hate for kei leng is for the wrong reaons...but anyway TIM's actions in ME3 just have you screaming WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING!!?? he just keeps coming along and scrwing everything up

Handsom Jack, doesnt need much explanation...my only issue with him as a villan he himself doesnt seem all that threataning..more like an armoral rich kid playing with toys, even though he does do some horrific things (though I havnt finished BL2)

Joffrey Lanister, at first he was an asshole, then he was given power
Same as him, tied with Calvin Candie, easily one of the most hate-able villains ever.

Saint Dane, the main antagonist of the Pendragon Adventure.

Goddammit, I hate to go along with everyone else but I have to agree with Joffrey. That little fucker singlehandedly made me want to continue watching after
Ned's execution
just because I want to see him die horribly. Thankfully, in a series as violent as Game of Thrones I'm sure I won't have to wait much longer for him to get killed.

I guess I'll have to agree with everyone else and say Joffery Motherfucking Lanistar. However I suppose I'll go into detail in the spoilers to be different.

So, why do I hate this little bastard? Oh where to start. First off the little **** is a sadist. He tortures people for his own pleasure and in the show even made two whores(gifted by one of the coolest characters ever;Tyrion) beat each other. His definition of justice is also quite cruel. Hes also the definition of a little *****. He may talk a big game(oh yeah hes obnoxious) but when it actually comes to a fight or even beating his betrothed he always has the Dog or a knight do it. He not only causes a 14(?) year old girl harm on a regular basis but can't even do it himself. Fucking pathetic. And above all else hes a fucking moron. I hate him. You hate him. Everyone who knows the character hates him. I only wish I could kill the little piece of shit with my own hands.

Yes. I am quite passionate in my hatred of him. Good job writers.

I really can't remember, outside of GoT. Stannis annoyed me in the book a lot, though his portrayl in the series was a bit more sympathetic. Shane from the walking dead (TV Series), and The Governor (The comics version) were pretty vile.

I usually prefer villains I'm entertained by. Vaas, Joker, Handsome Jack, are some of my favourites, just because they're fun (Well Jack is for the first 3/4s of the game.)

(First off, spoiler warning - chances are pretty much everything with a villain in it will be spoiled in this thread, assuming it takes off)

So, my point is: What villains in media really (preferably, unexpectedly) succeeded in making you hate them with the burning fury of a thousand suns?
You know, for someone who warned about spoilers, you don't seem to make much use of the spoiler tag, especially for something as long form as Game of Thrones.

(I haven't read/watched it by the way, so those who contribute GoT stuff, please mark spoilers.)

OT:

This sounds dumb, but a couple of the villains in MLP: FiM actually do a very good job of making you hate them. Discord, spirit of chaos gets a special mention since he's the antithesis of most if not all of my personal philosophy.

In things not for little girls, Kessler from Infamous was great. I mean, we're talking about the kind of person who

kills the love of his life and makes the life of his younger self a living hell of bad publicity, isolation, and violence in order to harden his younger self into the kind of hero who won't be tied down by emotions when he needs to save the world

He is the hardest of core.
Discord is like the joker if he had god powers and also toned it down a bit, the Joker was so evil for evils sake that it got to be rather comical but Discord, having to be more grounded also made him worse since he seems more likely, hes like the personification of the internet. All powerful, completely chaotic and does everything because it amuses it.

It was pretty hard not to hate that guy, with his constant attempts at destroying everything.

Why do people keep saying Joffrey? I see him as a gullible shell which was just corrupted by Cersie. Joffrey's a moron in my opinion, an amoral bastard instead of a pure evil villain. He didn't do anything bad of his own accord (aside from the thing at the end of season 1, but that was just arrogance and already being evil and corrupted from his mother). If Joffrey was a bit smarter, less arrogant and fathered more by Robert, Jamie and/or Tyrion, he probably wouldn't be an evil dumb ass.

Without Cersie, the douchebaggery of Joffrey wouldn't be there, she essentially trained her son to be her evil minion.

Cersie's just a *****.
Cersei's influence certainly didn't help, that much is certain. But at the end of the first book he spirals out of even her control. There is some deep-rooted sadism in that kid that can't simply be explained by a combination of his mother's corruption and (both) his father's neglect. He's the Mad King all over again, only Joffrey is even more keen to throw his weight around than eve Ares was.

Last person to really get at me is without a doubt...

Light Yagami from Death Note.

I usually don't care much about villains. They can be exceptionally creepy and genuinely disconcerting but I never actually get myself to hate them. Yet this little fucker managed that like no-one before or after: he's an insane megalomaniac who is so utterly devoid of all empathy and so caught up in his own egocentrism that he routinely deceives, lies and murders everyone that stands in the way of this insane game of his. He doesn't even stop when it comes to family members or innocents, despite his claims to only rid the world of "evil people". He's by all means a true sociopath. And when a series does it's utmost to present a world that gives such a person real power...damn...that makes me angry.

Ill Agree with Joffery, the twisted, corrupted, scumbag ****. his death was along time coming and very very satisfying

in the same series Viserys Targeareon, who dies in the most fitting manner possible.

Cersei is also a good villain.

Saren Arctrus from Mass Effect was a good villian who i went from wanting to MURDER!, to feeling sad of him, well done Bioware, on that note Malek was also a great villian.

One final note
Kai Leng was awfull, jsut awfull, as was TiM and the Collecters and the Reapers at that matter, WTF, you dropped the ball Bioware

Kurata, Digimon Data Squad.
The most hatred I have ever felt for one creature, and his actions were not shoe horned in (see Handsome Jack, where you wonder how they let them get away with it), his actions genuinely would have been allowable if it was happening in reality and followed all reasonable laws. He was just so evil, backwards, unmoving and hate driven that he committed atrocity after atrocity, ignoring any relevant information on the subject of the creatures he was affecting and ignoring the signs of a building counter offensive (He was killing off sentient creatures with a degree of ability to gather into groups capable of waging war, and the power to cause massive damage while in said groups to human civilization).
His actions were just so completely reprehensible and irreversible and the governments so stupid to side with him (but believably so) that I have no love for his driving motivation of being scared cause one of them hurt him once when he did something stupid to it. It also helps that they let it carry on for a lot longer than you would ever want with no sign of it stopping until the very end (he did die nicely though ^^).

Yeah, been a good few years and all I had to check was his name was spelt right. Even calling his name out now peaks my anger some. Hate that creature.

OH YES! Definitely him. I just finished watching Gundam SEED the other day and yes that guy is completely unlikeable. Everything from his personality, his demeanor, to his attitude towards Coordinators (genetically engineered/modified humans), made you want to strangle him.
