Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell to star in Season 2 of True Detective

The rumors were true, a couple of them anyway.

The news comes via press release, and details both actors' roles. Farrell will play Ray Velcoro, a "compromised detective" caught between his bosses and the mob. Vaughn will play Frank Semyon, a career criminal about to lose his empire after the death of a business partner. Director Justin Lin, known for his work in the The Fast and The Furious franchise, is slated to direct the first two episode in the new run. There's still no word, however, on the new season's female lead.

The internet doesn't seem to happy about it.

That thought that last one was funny.
Anyhow.
Well, I have an open mind, and by open mind I mean pretty much no opinion. I haven't been exposed enough to either actor to really form an opinion on how they might do but from what little I know about Vaughn, I understand people's... uneasiness... with having him for a role in a dark, serious crime drama. But I'm going to think positive here and assume it's going to be good, I liked Season 1 so either way I'm excited for Season 2.

I've seen Vince Vaughn play a detective before. His idea of emoting was standing around with his mouth open all the time. Needless to say, he was not good in the role. Seriously, go watch "The Cell" he's AWFUL in it.

Well The Cell was just an awful movie in general.

OT: I'm not sure about Vince Vaughn, but I'm down for Colin Farrell.

I'm a bit dubious Vince Vaughn but I imagine they cast him for a reason.

I don't think people expected Matthew McConneghey to have the career turnaround that he did so maybe Vaughn will pull it out of the bag too.

I'm skeptical but optimistic.

To be fair, Vince Vaughn wasn't the only thing wrong with that movie. I don't really like Vaughn either but I think in a good script with a competent director he might not be that bad.
