Yes I do!
Also, my innate hatred of humanity makes me rejoice any time other people(or groups of people-yay!) perish in novel ways.
One I'd love to see: a group of nudist hikers that was lightly mauled after mistaking a bear for the hairy guy of the group that are then thrown hundreds of miles by a huge tornado, and land on a high spiked fence.

It's because you can't spell slaughter without laughter. It's true, try it.
Lafftur.

It's yet another evolutionary anomaly..
Perhaps it's mixture of 'I could do that' coupled with 'I'm glad that's not being done to me'
Damn.
This guy's smart.

I recommend you go listen to Vicarious by Tool.

As a matter of fact, just make the entirety of the lyrics your essay.

Personally, I felt ill after half and hour of Gears 2..then again, Bioshock left me unfazed. Perhaps it's just space-marinery I'm allergic to..

Because humanity are animals, we can say whatever we want, we can say there's more to life than eat, sleep, produce wastes, mate, die (not neccesarily in that order, and not neccesarily seperately) but when it comes down to it, we love the hunt, we love watching a trapped fellow lifeform realize there is no hope, and then keep fighting, all because the kill is sweeter when we earn it, and watching that is nothing compared to taking the prey, but in todays society, we have suppressed base instinct as taboo so long, that doing these things is considered sick, but watching can be a way to enjoy it, and never let anyone know that we're loving every second of the beautiful carnage. And It's not the gore itself that is what we love, it's the fact that that is something losing its life, that it's being taken by force, that the predator wins, and gets the spoils, and the prey loses, and pays everything.

I like it because... huh, I actually don't know why i like it but i think it has something to do with humans being violent a and warlike species.

I believe Freud gave an essay on how the brain works. In the simplest and most basic and primitive areas of the human mind,a lot of straight-forward,instinctive needs are shown. While our refined mind often pushes these away, some remain. So,every human has a need for violence, while some peoples might be very low, others are insanely(and dangerously)high. It's natural, although it can get out of hand...

I like gory horror movies for the cheesy special effects. We're entertained by the thought of watching fights because it is the darker side of human nature that most of us try to forget about... there's also the struggle for survival in Gladiator fights (or any life/death situation.) It's good to break up the monotony as well to watch movies/stuff dealing with that.

Yes! It could be sent to people you hate, with an arrow pointing at a free stake, saying:
"Wish you were here."

I find it interesting because it gives me a burst of adrenaline. It hypes me up (I have no idea if that is even correct grammar) and I almost feel like I'm the gladiator fighting for his life. I guess it draws me in and I almost feel immersed in the world the actors, directors, and writers are showing.

It is for the same reason that there are loads of people that don't want fighting banned from hockey games. Violence is something most people don't get to undertake on another person legally, so they have to find another way to get that same release. Watching somebody else get ripped apart is somewhat satisfying for the reason that they cannot rip a person apart without severe consequences, but they can still get the thrill, and feel that they are a bit of a part of it just by watching.

Beating something up is a great tension release, but it's frowned upon so you try to get as close to the experience as you can. Back to the original example, you can get an ice/street hockey game going with your friends, but you don't get in actual fights. Your friends would abandon you and there would likely be legal ramifications. You can watch the pros fight, rather than just deciding their game on skill, and you connect with that.
