Good luck with the paper. Not sure what you expect from this lot in terms of violence though.

Hmmm, I must admit I do get a bit homicidal after playing games. Nothing like a bit of good old fashioned murder.

I'm sure anyone who isn't an idiot will pick up on the sarcasm so this thing you're reading is probably a bit redundant.

You're going to get a biased opinion here. In fact, I don't know if you CAN get an unbiased opinion on this. But whatever, best of luck for your paper, man.
Yeah, there's plenty of bias to go around. I'm hoping to get data which help to support that pixels and pressing buttons doesn't make you some kind of pyscho murder machine that all the media outlets seem to act like it does.

There we are!
But... Last question, I think most who play FPS have been frustrated enough to at some point bang the controller/desk and swear. It happens with everything competitive, pretty much.

I don't understand what the purpose is. I grew up with firearms in the house and I grew up using them. So of course I own firearms and no I've not taken any formal safety classes unless you count my parents/relatives teaching me how to use them properly.

I was using guns before I ever started playing video games, so the two subjects aren't even connected yet on that survey my answers would make them appear to be.

Last question made me laugh, since when I do play video games it is almost always after coming home from the gym or from work, and you couldn't pay me to get off the couch at that point let alone get the energy to be violent. =)

Your telling me, I work at a local park and about once every 2 weeks or so there is a fight over softball =/. (Baseball with a large ball that is softer, one step up from tee-ball)

However, I would hope that you understand that video games have some affect on people, both positive and negative. I did a similar paper [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.252556-The-Grand-Theft-Auto-Conundrum-an-essay-on-violent-video-games] for a class, and I came to the same conclusion as most people would but I made sure to understand the opposer's point of view.

I am for them.

edit: sorry, misread the update...
I think the last question is easy to misinterprtf.. take the wrong way. I would say yes, but that's more out of frustration of bad games or w/e. I said no in the survey though.

Violence (in a safe, controlled environment) is a huge source of entertainment for me. MMA is my main hobby, and I prefer action-heavy games like Devil May Cry, Mega Man (especially the Zero series), and Contra.

Hmm... I'm a gun guy and have hunted before I got into gaming, which is why you'll find lots of guns, but no playing FPS's didn't really affect my buying of them.

Would the survey make a correlation where none exists?

The last question should be the reverse.
I have never felt the urge to commit violence after playing a game, but I have played a game because I had an urge to be violent.

Fight fire with fire? I can respect that. You walk away with (hopefully) an A. They walk away with a shitton of advertising money. The audience walks away burnt, segregated and opinionated. Everyone's a Winner!
