Hey all.

Anyway, I'm staying up all night reinstalling all my games that do NOT require 'net connection.

Have viruses ever screwed you over when it comes to Computers?

Note: Please no "Nope. I use a 360/PS3/Wii/ETC" comments. They are unproductive to the point.

Of course they have. Though I have never had to wipe my computer. Doing that is like letting the viruses win for me so I attempt to get rid of them with the best anti spy ware and such available.

So do you have some viruses yourself OP?

No, I stick to websites I know and run virus scanning software. Not many viruses to be downloaded from the Escapist and Engadget.

I had an old eMachines when I was a naive youngster, and when I finally ran a virus scan I had well over 2000.

Damn those virii and their Rolex wristwatches and their Airwalk tennis shoes.

Seriously, the best defense against virii isn't Virus Protection or software applications, it's education.

Ah the computer virus, bane of my life.

I've had a fair amount of bad luck with virus' but i blame that mainly on me loaning my computer access to my techno-retarded sister.

incidentally if my old computer had any more virus' then they'd start to physically ooze off my hard drive.

I have never had a virus ever, and i'm connected to the internet 12 hours a day surfing everywhere downloading tons of stuff. my little old laptop is still runnning in tiptop shape since late 06. Maybe I'm just lucky

EDIT: Seriously am I the only one who never got a virus? I don't even run anti virus software, and have windows defender and such turned off cause pop ups annoy me. Yet my lappy runs like a clock.

That happened to a friend of mine's computer. Part of the hard drive actually melted. It was priceless.

They have, many times. You don't learn anything if they don't, that is, if you're not already a computer wizard!

eh I clean out computers for a living there are some good free programs to help remove them but having a good system like Kaspersky or Bit Defender or even a cheaper one like trend micro will really help.

Viruses and more malicious spyware are an ever-present dangger on the net. Even if you avoid boobie sites and such, there are still ways to get infected.

A few times my computer got bogged down pretty badly, cleaned it all up eventually.

Once I got some damn thing that neither AVG, Spybot or Adaware couldn't catch. Had to go over my active processes one by one, track each down and see if they were suspicious. Eventually I tracked the damn bastard down and finished him with an old-fashioned Delete + Empty Recycle Bin. Felt real good about myself then ;)

One time my buddy actually found a dead rat in someone's tower.

It wasn't even that! I had that computer before I started looking at the kinds of websites that are virus breeding grounds!
