Yes. Just...yes. All you need to do is listen to the song Shine [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXjCZqmO14k] to know how awesome he is.

Though I can't agree on Bruce Dickinson. Not a fan of Iron Maiden, personally.

But add in someone like Daisuke from Maximum the Hormone and we're good! ^-^

Jared Leto has one of the purest and most natural vocals I've ever heard (as a tenor, that is), no effort when he sings. And I especially ADORE the colour of his voice, wonderfully curved.
DAMN STRAIGHT!!!!!!

Also Chris Carrabba would have to be my fav.

Ben Gibbard is the best male vocalist. No one writes as well or sings as melodically as him.

Best female vocalist? I'm gonna go with Alice Glass, perhaps biased because they are my favourite band ever and I'm seeing them again this friday. She spends most gigs screaming, drinking and crowd surfing, but she does have an amazing voice when she bothers. Celestica is proof of that, one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.

Keith Buckley
Jim Morrison
Dallas Green
Sufjan Stevens

It's weird cause I prefer the female voice, but I wouldn't say I have a favourite female singer, if only I knew more talented female artists.....*hint hint, wink wink, nudge nudge*

Mike Patton - the range of that guys voice is beyond measure. He can be growling right from the bowels of hell one moment and then singing choirstyle with the angels in the next. Check out Mr. Bungle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PBH5ez-Znw) and Faith No More (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9X_msJ-7OI). Yes, that is the same guy - also he's The Darkness, but that goes without saying.

Well I really like Dave Gahan's vocals from Depeche Mode. I tend to like some of the covers for Depeche Mode's songs (Marilyn Mason's cover "Personal Jesus", In Flames's cover "Everything Counts"), but I mainly like it for the music. I still prefer Dave's vocals in the originals. I just think he has a really skilled voice.

Johnny Cash is another vocalist that I really like. His music is good but I'm generally a fan of heavier stuff. Once again I will like covers of his songs due to their heavier music. But Cash's voice is always so great.

Meat Loaf has to be included in my list... he is easily one of the greats of rock'n roll, and I can only think of him as the opera singer of the genre. His skill and sound is unquestionable.

And, of course, you have to include Johnny Cash. Though a bit of a one sided singer, his voice has a manner of shaking your very bones with emotion. Especially later in life, when his voice wasn't its best, he did an excellent job of conveying feeling, like I've never heard before. (See above video of Hurt).

I also love Bon Jovi and Bob Seger. No reason, just like them.

I am in love with Stefan Zell's voice.

~1:55

Ray Alder has a very nice voice... And he kind of sounds like Ozzy sometimes, which is cool.

~1:55 (again!)

Tarja Turunen made them great, in my humble opinion.
Well said. I hate bashing people I've never met, but Annette doesn't really fit my previous vision of them :(

David Bowie is obviously really good too.

I'd say either David Draiman from Disturbed or Rob Zombie are my favorite singers, but Dani Filth from Cradle of Filth is awesome to.

I used to be a vocalist...but this kind of vocalist. I did a little singing too as we were a melodic metalcore band. OT: I love how unique the singer of Coheed & Cambria is:
