Why are people all stowing away on submarines these days?. What would compel someone to think hiding on a submarine, of any kind, is a good idea?. You could end up in Antarctica. Then again if you were a sociopath, that would seem logical.

FLAPJACK452: Your guy is not accepted because of his unstable state, and the Ulysses won't have stowaways, nor murderers.
Please everyone get the mindset that the Ulysses is not an underwater version of the Space Battleship Yamato with all of its flavorful characters, it's more like a fricken huge version of the ALVIN [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DSV_Alvin] with a rifle aboard. It is not an assault vehicle.

- Captain's Log- Panama City ~ August 1st, 1942~10:32am
First break I've been able to get since I got up this morning. It's all rush rush rush with everyone so excited about the new sub. I've already seen it, and so have all the politicians I had breakfast with this morning. Maybe I should lighten up, it is a holiday today now. Confetti, bands from all corners of the globe, streamers, parades for almost obsolete armies, a good bunch of drinking, children seeing ships in the harbour. It's sort of noisy.
To Do:
- launch worlds best submarine as the worlds best captain
sea trials
resupply
get to know crew
head off into the unknown
do laundry
Chaos of Joy, unity and celebration was everywhere in the streets as the age of Oceania had begun. Tourists, enthusiasts and Sailors of all sorts of origins wandered and marveled at the festivities all over the capital of the Ulysses' launch place. A full 90-peice orchestra was playing a large random assortment of National Anthems in accompaniment of the appearance of oddish happiness everyone was experiencing. Not even twenty years ago such parley of people would have been impossible due to conflict and hatred, yet here the world was.
People standing at the edge of the greatest berth in Panama harbour holding a titanic monster made of steel, like a curved wall, shadowing a podium and beyond that countless smaller ships, puttering about the Pacificus waterscape occasionally tooting their horns. Several people could be seen ascending to the podium on a stairs, all dressed in shiny and wondrous costumes or fabric, jewel and gold, and suddenly the band reached a crescendo and stopped playing. A distant clock tower struck One in the afternoon. The group on the podium all looked very proud of themselves as if today was the magnum opus of their lives.
"Ladies and Gentlemen." began one of them in an auspicious voice. His voice echoed for some time off to everywhere at once.
"Citizens of this wonderous place, Earth.
Mankind has learned and sought to learn many things over countless eras. In the past, a man sought to create heat for himself, and in his pursuit was rewarded with fire. Lighning was seen in fantastic power and awesome wonder, and for more effort, it was harnessed and captured. On this day, the First International Discovery Day, we celebrate the inventions of Humanity's forefathers in unison extant gaiety, and on this particular day , we also celebrate a symbol of this new age of Discovery."
Another man stepped on the podium to the microphone, speaking with a indicative Russian accent.
"
This symbol, heralds a grand age of intelligence and reason in humankind, and with it, we shall pursue knowledge like never before! Your Majesty, would you honor us with the pleasure?"
A middle-forties looking man in esteemed purple robes and crown took up a large bottle of champagne from a table and stood at the microphone.
"Let it be known to all people, that on this day the greatest summation of people could be seen with the naked eye in one place. Without any predjudice, here in one small platform stands the Premiere of the Soviet Union, the Presidents of the United States of America, China, The North African Union, the Prime Ministers of France, Canada, Weimar States, Austrohungarian States, The Afrikaan Republic, Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, and the Kings of Spain, Italy, Mexico, and the United Kingdom. United together, we christen, the United Nations Service Ulysses!"
Together the group held the bottle and let it swing tied to a long velvet crimson ribbon towards the Submarine. With a resonating "
CLAUM", the bottle smashed against the side, and the great vessel began to slide down its launch ramp into the sea. Glorified cheering began from the tumultuous crowds and the band stuck up. Ships in the distance tooted their horns and whistles, a larger vessel giving a discordant bellow of its foghorn.
Some of the crew of the Ulysses popped their heads out of the top of the conning tower to see the celebrations. Captain Aram Stihl, upon hearing the distant Foghorn tickle in his ears gave him an idea.
"Helmsman, give them a blast of our horn."
"Aye, sir."
As the crowd waved and cheered, a volcanic eruption of inordinate volume eclipsed all that could be heard with a gigantic inharmonious bellow, echoing for some time before anything else could be heard again. The crowd continued to cheer, louder than before. Celebrations and festivities continued long into the night where all the Ulysses did was slowly meander around the harbor for all to see.

Finally our sea trials are done and all authorities clear this tub as Seaworthy and I have my leave to go on an adventure. Bloody finally.
Route heads south along the Chilean coast, then to Easter Island, then where we please as long as we return to Pitcairn Islands before October 10th. Supper was a nice bit of Crab with a citrus salad. This may just be the best submarine in the world if that's what were going to be having for meals.
-------
What a time to finally get Captain's authority, 7 in the evening.
Captain Stihl stood from his bedside and walked out of the door to the bridge, giving show of all the men and women of staff.
"Helmsman, due south, take us along the coast at your pleasure. Trim, take us to 80 meters."
"Aye sir" replied two voices. The Captain had another one of those moments which he used to amuse himself.
"Full speed ahead, let's see what we've got here."
The Captain said:
Name: Aram Stihl
Age: 50
Nationality: Indo-Chinese French
Appearance: Fair build, black hair and somewhat adolescent facial features.
Size: 5'9", 180 lbs
Characteristics: Immigrated with his father from a peasant life in Siam to France in the earliest part of the century to seek fortune, he soon enrolled in the Navy excelling in authoritative positions, although commonly able to put off people due to his minor child-like synapses of amusement. By no means is he inadequate or immature, he just enjoys many things still in the way a child would.
Occupation: Captain

Mingle. (GM Orders, not Captain's orders. Players are to character-mingle, it's not a direct Captain's order)
Oh yeah, and the submarine is ordered to accelerate to maximum speed to see how fast it goes when you put the pedal to the metal. Which isn't all that fast.
