As John awoke from his bunk, he awoke to see the Ulysses again. "Another day on a submarine", thought John. He got out of bed, and began to wear his uniform for another day of work. He picked up his tools, and went down to the hull for examination.

He walked along the way, meeting several people in the hall. Some were talking about their former history in their countries, but John didn't have time. He made it to the hull for the check-up, and began to look at the pipes. He checked carefully for leaks, cracks and damage on the pipes. He knew his job was boring, but he had to make the money. He looked boringly at the metal, and wished for a better future, but he had to work now.

John noticed a broken pipe, and immediately got his welding tools to fix it. He put on his mask and gloves, and began to weld the pipes together. "I wish I was farming in China instead of this". He gazed at the immense maze of pipes and metal that comprised of the submarine. The submarine was a huge titanic beast, and he had to maintain all of this. John merely sighed, and began to walk along the massive hallway, looking for a leak....
Edit that immediately please, there are 12 other people carrying on conversations right now, you can't just declare the day over and a new one afresh.

<spoiler=OOC>OK, My brother fixed my 'puter, so I'm back. I just hope that my stupid hard drive isn't dying...
Conrad laughed. "Ha! You have a point there. This ship is so large, I doubt a squid of any size could damage it!" He glanced at his watch, and then took a longer look. "Damn! I'm sorry, sir, but I have to go. Thank you for the info!"

Damn, damn, damn! what's the good of making a promise to your wife if you're not going to keep it, you moron!I hope I don't get run into on my way back...

Will yawned, and smiled sheepishly at the Chief Engineer. "Sorry, I'm still adjusting to this place's time zone. I think I'll turn in for the night. Gunten nacht"
With that, he sauntered back to his cabin. when he arrived, he took the obligatory reports from the commander and the captain, and sent them off to home base, then went to bed, falling soundly asleep almost instantly

"Guten Nacht." He said and took of his cap, wiping the sweat with his other hand. He went towards his cabin. He needed rest today. Tomorrow... Yes. The Engine call will be answered tomorrow.

After Conrad finished writing today's events in the journal his wife had insisted he take along to chronicle the Ulysses' journey (for some reason she believed that a book written on the subject would keep them afloat in the financial sense), he went to bed. As he fell asleep, he wondered What will happen tomorrow? Ah, well, que sera sera, c'est la vie, and live and let live, as they say. The morrow is not for us mere mortals to know...

Yeah, sorry for the philosophic/poetic bent. I say we have a time, probably between 12 midnight on the east coast of the US and 7 or 8 am in the same time zone, where we rest. No story advancing posting between those hours. We can finish the convos or whatever, but the story is put to bed for the night. Sound good?

Bible, flipping through into the New Testament, closed the book, saving the rest for the next day. Shutting his eye, he recited the Lord's Prayer, laid down on the cold, metal table with the book as his pillow, and fell dead asleep.

In the hallway outside Luthor's cabin the lights went off one by one, the humming of the engines the only discernible sound to be heard. The majority of the crew were probably asleep. Luthor would be joining them too in a few more hours after his exercises: 50 chin ups; 70 sit ups and 60 push ups. It was funny really, Luthor had accepted the offer from the United Nations expecting the voyage would inspire him and send his subconscious into overdrive, but nothing. After his exercises Luthor cleaned up and retired to bed

just as the crew has all fallen asleep, steve had come out of hiding. for the past couple of days steven has been in hiding and only the captain knew steve was there. he hasn't been able to come out of his safe spot. so he came out to meet the crew, but didn't realize it was time for bed for the regulars. his internal clock has been on a totally different schedule, which is the biggest reason no one has seen him. but he wanted to come up and talk to the captain about his living arrangements. he has been sleeping in the darkest place in the ship.he has been wanting to come out, meet the crew, and live in a room just like the rest of the crew.

"Sir,"Vasily barked back, "i can follow this course myself as per your orders, Sir".
"At-ease, Helmsman. Well that suits me just marvelously. Commander Tyrrel," replied the Captain with a notion of delightful calm and enjoyment. "I do believe that your shift runs the night, or at least this evening for the next few hours. You have the bridge, Commander."
In an unobjectionable pace of serenity, the Captain turned and headed down the corridor to the crew barracks for some rest.

John finished up checking up all the pipes and interior damage, until he noticed how late it was. He glanced at his watch, and immediately walked back to his room. He turned the lights, on and began to take off his equipment. "Wow, after days on a sub, your bones begin to get decompressed. Better get used to it."

He brought his aching body to the bed, and began to think back to China. A place where the government had practically taken over the land. No protests, no freedom. Everyone had to follow the rules of the government or else. Many were jailed and killed on the first day of the coup. But he wanted to go back, so he could farm there and help his fellow Chinese men, regardless of the danger. But for now, he had to rest, and dream of the day when he would earn enough to buy a farm...

Robert lay in bed, eyes wide open, staring at the ceiling. He had perhaps spent too long in the mess hall, he had been comfortable there, and he had lost track of time. By the time he had left the mess everyone else was asleep, a wasted opportunity, but no matter, he would try again tomorrow; for now, his thoughts were of his cherished wife and daughter, should he have left them again? Surely they understood, surely they knew that he could not pass one last adventure. He'd pay them back, as soon as he'd return, he'd buy a fishing boat, and go sea fishing with his Mary again.

Henry rubbed his eyes and yawned before finally giving it all away
"I'm bloody tired. I'll see you around, Mr. Arthur"
And with a final nod, the Welshmen disappeared back into the ship, finally making it back to the clinic of his and fell asleep in his chair, nasty thoughts keeping him entertained until sleep finally overtook him.

Wow, I had been grounded for a few days, and in my absence this has completely sky rocketed in posts.
Unless someone can give me a quick recap I'm gonna have to drop out.

"Yes sir, I have the graveyard shift" James responded with a twinkle in his eye. He secretly preferred the night operations on board the Ulysses, things were much quieter then, almost everyone goes to bed and the few that remain awake hardly ever disturb him from his thoughts. It was no surprise to the Commander that no one really shared his views on the late night shift but to James the ship came alive at night, every rattle and every groan from the hull and engines told James a tale. Something that was dulled to oblivion during the day operations where the conversations and the momentum of the crew drowned his perceptions.

"Have a good nights rest Captain!. I'll catch you in the morning" James replied with a salute as the Captain existed the bridge. With a deep breath he turned around to address the crew that were staring back at him.

"Well, you all are stuck with me for the next couple of hours. So I hope you all are alert and on-your-toes because there is no rest for the weary on this shift" he began. "I want an update from all the systems at every hour, on the hour".

"Who's manning the SONAR?" James asked suddenly. "How much of ballast do we have in our buoyancy tanks?...And Helmsman!, what is our current speed and heading?" James chuckled inwardly. "That should keep them on their toes!"
