I was on my 360 the other day, looking through my Netfix suggestions, when I came upon an anime series called Queen's Blade. I'll admit I was intrigued by the box art and thus put it into my instant queue. Upon watching the first episode the other day, it slowly dawned on me....this is porn! Needless to say, I watched the other three episodes in an attempt to refute my hypothesis, being the brilliant scientific mind that I am, and discovered that I was correct, this series is porn! Has this ever happened to you? Have you ever discovered that something was porn under false pretenses? Please list the series and your immediate reaction.

Well, there was the Evangelion doujin "Retake", and I got...a bit surprised. Nonetheless, I read all six volumes and can say that it was actually very good (story-wise here, not in "other" senses, though I can't exactly put that down so...*sheepish grin*).

Same for me, but I stopped upon realization of what most doujinshi were.

You mean there are doujins that aren't porn? Inconceivable!

There's power puff girls doujinshi, I'm pretty sure that's not porn.

Of course after having read through Gantz at age 12 I'm pretty much desensitized.

Not me personally, but I have a friend who, back in high school, was practically Asexual. Never, under any circumstance, so much as hinted at thinking of a girl as attractive. He went on a Anime downloading binge one day, looking for new series to watch, not even worrying if they were good or what they were about, just downloading it all. I think the question is meaningless because porn is in the eye of the beholder, not the creator. To someone with a fetish for chairs, a furniture catalogue is porn. It doesn't matter whether the makers of that catalogue intended it to be consumed that way or not.

This is true. People can find just about anything sexually appealing for a variety of reasons. We tend to relate and associate things to sex. Take just about any word, idea, object, thought, emotion, sensation, anything, and it can be put into a sexual context.
