The worst is that our American cousins don't have Galaxy chocolate, IMO the best milk chocolate bar none. Hershey's chocolate is quite horrid, tasting mostly of whatever additives and preservatives they use, second only to Australian chocolate for how awful it is. Cadbury's bars taste much nicer by far, and Galaxy even more so.

It's true, you can taste the difference between them. America has so much corn that corn syrup is cheaper than sugar, but there is a definite difference in the taste between american coca cola and that made with sugar elsewhere.
Galaxy chocolate is very nice indeed, not my favourite, but seems silly to me that it's not that widespread. It's owned by Mars Inc. Which I'm pretty sure is the biggest name in the business.

I've never had non sugar based coke, what does that do to the taste? To me Coca Cola has a very specific and distinctive taste, I can't imagine them changing it here any time soon.

Uk has Toffee Crisp, as well as the others. We also get alot of mainland european influence these days, which is not a bad thing.
Toffee Crisp and Coffee Crisp are actually different things - similar look, but totally different taste.
Wow. I never knew that. There's me thinking it was a spelling mistake.

What's up with the Hershey hate? It's sweeter than every other chocolate I've had. It's like a sugar bar with a little coca rather than bitter coca with a little bit of sugar. The only other name brand I can remember the taste is Godiva, which was horrible. If someone tasted that and the foreign brands how does that compare?

What I miss that isn't sold in this part of the US are Tastykakes and Mallomars.
Nobody bakes a cake as tasty as a Tastykake! These people just don't understand. Right now, I could go to Wegmans and grab some Turkey Hill ice cream. Or drive 10 minutes to Hershey, go into Sheetz, and buy some Tastykakes. That's living!
OH MY GOD, STOP. I miss Wegmans so hardcore right now. They also have the best pierogies. Turkey Hill ice cream and even a Wawa hoagie would be amazing. When I was in college, I lived in the woods and the nearest food place was a Sheetz a few miles away, I lived off their bbq burger for a semester straight.

Down here it's all Whole Foods and sadness. They have not been enlightened.

Ehh, There are regional and even era factors to consider.

As others pointed out we have our own thing called Smarties. That is likely just trademark issue more than anything else.
I remember Aero but it was only commonly seen in I think white chocolate form regionally back in the 90s They rarely sold, so of course the lack of interest would explain why younger people do not have as much exposure to em.

The US has all sorts of similar weird regional naming conventions too. Like for example out West you would have Carl's Jr, but in the South it becomes Hardees. Kroger Grocery stores mutate into Ralphs, Frys or others dependent on where you are in the US.

So really a lot of it is not as much actual differences than it is simply just calling the same thing something different.

Off topic: WTF is up with Captcha today and foreign language words?

See I invest in the Pepsi Throwbacks when they come around. MUCH better taste since its real sugar and not corn syrup. I miss that age...

One of my favorite sour candies to get. There's good flavor, and the sour isn't overpowering you.
what?

What's the point in eating sour candy if your mouth doesn't suffer acid burn. CLEARLY you're eating it wrong.
Someone get this lightweight a bag or warheads, stat! Be sure to eat at least 10 of them for some mouth and tongue eroding goodness. (I think I had like 13 over the course of a school day, and it messed up my taste buds to the point that I couldn't even eat plain lays, and it was probably the only time I ever liked baked lays)

I just looked it up, and apparently we do have Galaxy chocolate, although it goes by the name Dove over here, although can't vouch for taste equality since I haven't had any dove in recent memory, and I've never had galaxy chocolate. I'm not really much of a chocolate person at all to be honest, although I do love me some Snickers and Twix.(Milky Ways/Three Musketeers are pretty good too)

Really, the one foreign snack I wish I could get here is UK style Bombay Mix. We have similar mockups here but its not the same; here they use health food store sesame sticks and it just doesn't taste right.

So I have to ask, is it true? Do you Americans not know the greatness that is Coffee Crisp, Aero and Smarties? I mean I know you guys have banned Kinder Surprise because reasons, but still, is it true?
Last Easter I spent a lot of time looking for anyone who smuggled in Kinder Eggs; I'm guessing the moronic parents of moronic kids gave them one and the little fat american kid popped it in his mouth whole and choked on the toy pod.
If it didn't get them banned, they could use that in their advertising: Kinder, Darwinism at work.
They weren't exactly easy to find before they got banned either.

I know, right? The other day, it asked me to spell "literacy." WTF is that? French?
Was that really necessary?

I brought it up because I was getting words/phrases like tzjungai and meanger moi. Its relevant because captchas are designed to be visually complex and a lot of times you simply cant make out what one or two characters in the captcha are, (Z and Ns for example with the captcha warping) and only able to decipher them based on contextual structure. So yeah, when you get 25 straight "words" in a row that clearly defy the grammatical conventions of the language in which the website as well as the captcha instructions are written in it does at the very least raise an eyebrow.

That was a very witless and distasteful response.

Does that mean they don't get Kinder Buenos?

Those poor, poor bastards. I shall weep for them this day.

*single tear*
Pretty sure they don't have proper Irn Bru either, due to some of the stuff that's in it being banned in the US.

My sympathies go out to all of America.

I'm not sure about other parts of the States, but in California; we don't have those here. We do get Cadbury creme eggs around Easter, but something tells me they might not be the same.

Honestly, something is up with our name-brand candies (and other things- like peanut butter). Chances are it's the use of corn syrup instead of plain sugar or honey. I also don't buy cookies. I remember I once bought my husband some cookies instead of baking them. He had this sad look on his face as he ate them. Something just wasn't right.lol Our breads also have syrup, though you can find some without. However, I tend to make hamburger buns myself. I bake what I can. I catch some flak for buying natural/organic items because of their lack of corn syrup and other undesirable things. Some acquaintances claim there is no difference in taste and I am wasting my time and money. However, I am pretty convinced that there is a difference, so *fart noise*.

Start a movement. Get the petitions flying and the political pundits yapping.

"Enough with the healthy nonsense! Bring us our Tastykakes and Twinkies!"

Life without Kinder Bueno is not a life with living.
I've been living without a stomach for years (thanks, Obama!), so I think I can manage!

(Disclaimer: I do have a stomach)

I honestly don't even know what kinder bueno is. Can you deep fry it and wrap it in bacon?

What's life without a little fun? Especially fun that's been deep fried and wrapped in bacon, then smothered in ketchup?

I'm not sure about the variety of smarties, but Aero and Coffee crisps are regularly stocked in the International foods section of Publix (major grocery chain in the South East). That's as available as it gets. I particularly like mint Aero bars so correct me if I'm thinking of the wrong thing but I was really happy to see that added.

Other things are a little harder to come by. For example, I'm a fan of Crunchy bars. Those aren't in that section but Yorkie bars and Lion bars are.

But even for the harder to get things, you can generally find those other varieties in Indian groceries or world markets and "fancy" grocery stores.

So it's an outright lie that we don't have them here. They're just not mainstream despite being better in my opinion.

As for that list, most of it's an outright lie or a statement that doens't make Canada better. "We brave the cold"? Yeah, you'd better because Canada is damn cold.

My personal favorite thing about Canada? Bars/pubs.

In Canada we have all of those and they are everywhere.
I actually don't like coffee crisp that much but I love coffee.
