Not really. But if it were, the 360 is the most likely to go, but it also had a massive lead on the others due to its launch date, so of course it would make sense if it was the first to go away also. Now, the DS should be on its way out...should be. I want three screens now!
they're releasing a new DS, but it's basically the old DS with bigger screens and a camera, called the DSi
You see. That's not a new console. Same thing. They need something new. Like how they went before...Game Boy->Game Boy Color->Game Boy Advance

As in new cartridges and hardware and stuff.

what I'm saying is.

they're not going to release a new system

when they're already releasing a new system

and it's different - they took out the GBA port.

Still the same system.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! What about the DS/GBA slot interaction between games like Pokemon? NO!
better yet

Guitar Hero for the DS actually uses the GBA Port as a vital part of the gameplay.

I was under the impression that this console Generation was just getting into the thick of it... and now people are already talking Nextbox and PS4? What the fork?
The average console generation has historically been around 5-6 years.

We're around the half-way point now. Likely all the companies are already developing the next generation console.

The DSi is to the DS what the GBC is to the original Gameboy. It'll not only support DS software, but it'll have its own DSi exclusive software as well (, which is region locked. I am not amused).

Ohh...you know what would have been better? If they restored old game boy games' compatibility.

I could play pokemon crystal again...if the battery wasn't dead.

Wait...now that I think about it, Microsoft might have a good approach if they made a massively downloadable content 360. It seems to be where the industry is heading and if someone made a console with a couple hundred gigs and programming for streaming software you could make a helluva leap in the market.

Not at this stage. Not everyone has unlimited internet downloads a month.
You're Australia, right? You guys haven't just hooked up a giant swarm network or something to power the interwebs via satellite?

I'd say the 360 has about three good years left in it; double that for the PS3. As for the Wii, people are still buying it and it's not like Nintendo are interested in pushing the hardware envelope so they could get fat of that for another five years.

They'll squeeze a console out of their arses at any chance they get just to make a buck.

Didn't Epic say that Gears 2 is pretty much the limit of what the 360 can do?
If we were to believe the devs in matters like these, PS2 games wouldn't have evolved graphically from Timesplitters. There'll be people who can squeeze an extra mile out of the system.

That's like saying we are seeing the benchmark of what the PS3 can do; utter bullshit. It's the limit of what Epic can do with the 360 with their current dev tools.

2006 counts as one of the ten, and the launch was the worst part. Plus, the majority of this year was weak. That being said, PS3 is really starting roll this holiday season, I wouldn't doubt it at all if the sales boost they get from Christmas carries over into next year.
