Wait, that game has come out already?

What games have you been completely surprised to find had been released without you knowing?

For me Epic Mickey 2 is the strongest example. I was never going to buy the game, but I was following it, curious to how it was going to be received, what with 1 being a mixed bag and Warren Spectre being the guy behind them.

So I watched some trailers and interviews and then the next I heard was a couple of months later when people were talking about how it had completely bombed. Had absolutely no idea they were even selling the game, never mind that people weren't buying it.

So any experiences like that?

I guess the new Tomb Raider, I never even noticed it was out until The Escapist slapped a big old review sticker on the front page. It was a decent price on Steam so I bought it just to see what the balls people are going on about. Then I remember why I hate PC gaming.... Dooowwwwnlooooad tiiimmmmeeeesssssss! Whhhhyyyyyyyy??!

Also Persona 4: The Golden because I have no interest in the Vita even though the classic Persona 4 is my favourite game ever.

I had inverse situation with Persona 4 Golden. It was supposed to come out at nov.20, week before that I checked PSN on Vita and what do I see there? Persona 4 Golden?! I rushed to EBgames only to see that that was just some PSN glitch.

Mayhaps not a game, but a book. Hyrule Historia. It looks like it's been out for a good while. Long enough for me to forget entirely that I had a reserved copy sitting in the back of GameStop until I picked it up today.

As for games, I'd have to go with Tales of the Abyss for 3DS. I'd seen it one day out of the blue at GameStop and I was like, WAT. And bought it instantly. Now they need to put Tales of Legendia/Symphonia/Eternia/Destiny on the 3DS. That would make me a very happy man.

Darkstalkers ressurection. It's been like two weeks it's been out . I realised it yesterday and bought it yesterday . Seriously we need an escapist gaming calender or something to keep us up to date . Get to it mods!

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2. I watched the first trailer a few days after it was posted to YouTube, and a couple weeks ago I saw the release trailer as a recommended video thinking "it's out already? Fuck, wish I didn't get BF3 Premium yesterday..."

i waited for it, and when it came out i was like "wow already".
The second Crysis, god time flies fast.
quite a few other games too actually, msut be because my reaction is more like "omg i didnt finish those games and i have to add mroe to the list"

Fire Emblem Awaking, asked a guy at game stop when it was coming out and he told me it had no release date so I figured it must be a while off. A few weeks later,everyone's telling me to buy this game and to paraphrase Yahtzee: It might as well be made out of the wood of the true cross for how easy it is to find a copy. I ended up downloading it and have enjoyed the hell out of it.

I had the complete reverse experience, first I heard of it existing outside of japan was when the reviews started popping up, went to order it and found it it had a delayed EU release date.

Delayed until April. The 19th.

Anyway, moving on from that, borderlands 2 for me. I remember it being announced and then the next thing I knew I was at a friends house and he pulled it out from seemingly nowhere. That was a fun weekend.

Gears of War Judgement is out in the UK tomorrow. I don't particularly care about it, I'm just surprised that I haven't seen any advertisements for it.
