I had to do some pretty serious double-takes when I learned that Guilmon from the third season of Digimon was voiced by Steve Blum and the corrupted personality cores in Portal 2 were voiced by Nolan North. I was not aware that Steve Blum could sound so sweet and adorable, or that Nolan North could sound so not-Nathan-Drake-y.

I'm starting to notice Liam O'brian and Yuri Lowenthal in a lot of games lately.

That totally blew my mind. Karen Strassman also voiced Kitana from MK, Aigis and Izanami from Persona and Izsha from Heart of the Swarm, and while similarities between Aigis and Izsha are obvious, I would never believe that Nanako and Mileena are voiced by the same person.

Why must facts hurt me so?

They're the same guy.
Stephan Weyte, to be exact. It's really a shame he's not in more things; he's really good.
Oh, but he was in a more recent game; the last role he played was the dude in the beret who comes in with all of the soldiers at the end of Metroid: Other M...
Okay, maybe my request is that he should be in more good things.
Seriously, listen to this.

I mostly watch subs actually, it's only DBZ where I prefer the dub :D

Which reminds me; the Japanese VA for Frieza also voices Yakko. That blew my mind when I found out :p
Yakko?

Surely you don't mean "Yakko" as in Animaniacs?

Between the two of them, Billy West and Tara Strong have provided the voices of pretty much everyone ever. Also, finding out just how many characters Dan Castellaneta, Hank Azaria and Harry Shearer voice on the Simpsons was kinda mind blowing.

Okay, I thought you were taking the piss there.

...

Nope. Yoda and Miss Piggy were voiced by the same person.

What. The. Fuck.

Fuck, you've got me beat there, Watson.

Although while I'm here.

Are both voiced by the same guy, Phil LaMarr
And speaking of Phil LaMarr

I've had the same reaction though with anime. For example

Misaka Mikoto from Toaru Kagaku no Railgun is also Negi Springfield from Negima!? who is ALSO Jenny Dolittle from Moretsu pirates.

Mio Akiyama from K-on is ALSO Lynn from Moretsu pirates, AND Risa from Highschool DXD

Yui Hirasawa from K-on is ALSO Uiharu from Toaru Kagaku no Railgun, AND Chitose from Yuru yuri.

The amazement never ceases.
The only time you can objectively say subs are better is when 4kids is involved.

4kids: Subs > Dubs
Any Gundam Series not named G Gundam Dubs > Subs
G Gundam SUBS ONLY... my god Mark Gatha can't VA to save his life
Almost all others Subs = Dubs

Though I prefer Dubs.

Wait, you are seriously saying the voice actors and actresses are better than the original Japanese ones? I'm sorry I've watched a lot of anime, both subs and dubs, and subs are continuously better, and better match the characters. A lot is lost in the regionalization of dubbing too.

In general these days I exclusively watch subs. The voice actors/actresses just are better overall.

Spot the steve blum is a game me and my friends play. Whenever I hear a character with a really bassy voice i always have to do the steve blum litmus test.
It's one of my favorite games to play :D

Dub actors having multiple roles is wholly unimpressive when you consider how long the American anime industry used the same 5-10 non-union scrubs for every single series. What show is Wendee Lee not in?

Anyway, I hope this won't turn into another tiresome dub/sub "debate."

Back to the original topic: I'm still amazed that Enel and Hachi are voiced by the same seiyuu. One Piece's reuse of vocal talent is usually easy to hear, but there isn't a hint of either of those voices in the other. Very impressive.

I can't believe no one mentions: IT'S A ME PAARTHURNAX. Charles Martinet who voiced Mario, Luigi, Wario and Waluigi also voiced Paarthurnax, that Paarthurnax from Skyrim.

I don't recognise a single character you just named lol. But I've read that he is a prolific voice actor.

You know Gohan and Android 18? Well in DBZ Kai they're voiced by Coleen Clinkenbeard, who's also the voice of Lilith and Patricia Tannis in Borderlands. When I found out I was like 'holy shit!' but now I can't unhear it :p

Speaking of Borderlands, Handsome Jack is voiced by Dameon Clarke. Wanna know who else he voices?

Yup.

So has there ever been an instance like that for you, where it makes you do a double-take?
Just incase it hasn't been posted:

Enjoy :p

I always love that sort of stuff, realising it's the same voice actor as something else you know.
I tend to go on that site, pick a character, then go to the voice actor profile and see what other characters they played ;)

In order: Avatar the last airbender, Superhero Squad Show, Justice League/Unlimited, Code Name: Kids Next Door.

He's also the Hanukkah Zombie in Futurama, Skips in Regular Show, and Undergrowth in Danny Phantom.

Is the same guy as this guy

I noticed something strange about Barry's speech patterns one of the last times I was watching Archer. It sounded like Carl. I was right, even though the voices sound nothing alike.

Jennifer "FemShep" Hale voices Jean Grey in Wolverine and The X-Men. I like to imagine the conversation wheel from Mass Effect each time she speaks.

David Delouise, the guy who plays the dad in Wizards of Waverly Place also voices Coop from Megas XLR. Everytime I watch it, I can't unhear the similarities in the voice.

This happens a lot for me with Steve Blum (The voice of Grunt in Mass Effect, Abathur in SCII, and Starscream in Transformers). Most recently I was just taking a stroll through the floating city of Columbia when I thought I heard a familiar voice and lo and behold it was Steve Blum!

In the way of Tales of the Abyss, The person who voiced May Kanker from Ed Edd n' Eddy voiced Sync and Ion as well, that person being Erin Fitzgerald. I'd say to look her up on wikipedia if you haven't, because of how many different voices she has done.
These two had the same voice actor. I'm still surprised by this.

"Let's bake a cake, for Master Chief."

Jen Taylor playing Peach and Cortana is the one that I still can't get over.

I think far too many times, people look at the most popular series (the ones 4kids forced down people's throat), and say ALL dubs are awful, when it simply isn't true.
Dude. Don't argue with a weeb. It means they win.
