Is it some kind of joke? I don't want any hate spewed in the discussion, I am just really curious. Has "MLP" as some in the forums have called it, invaded popular culture? If so, I think I've finally disconnected with the young audience..

To clear it up for the people wondering how I could've missed this, I've been busy with work and my personal life so I don't have nearly as much personal time as I used to. Here's the thing, I've tried to avoid vitriolic rhetoric as much as I possibly could. If the internet masses choose to attack me, so be it. I'm not here to start a fight, I'm posing a question.
I'm sorry sir, but you're 22 posts too late.randomfox said:OH MY GOD WHAT'S THAT IN THE TOP RIGHT HAND CORNER!?
Oh.
It's a search function.
Fucking use it.

You don't have to understand it, just accept it, ignore us if you find it annoying. It's not hard.
NOTE
It's important to mention that, you're not being attacked *yet*, but the escapist members don't like it when the forums become cluttered with multiple threads about the same thing, ESPECIALLY when it comes to ponies. And another pony thread just popped up.
At least it should be cool underneath a rock. I'm almost jealous. It's been so hot lately.Matt_LRR said:Let me be the first to welcome you back from the rock you've apparently been living under for a year.

META-EDIT: Through the help of some of the more respectable posters, I've come to an understanding. While my understanding would best be described as: "Stringy, at best", I've decided, after the careful reviewing and dissection of two minutes of the show, that it's not for me. If I want good writing, I'll watch Mad Men. I can see the draw factor, though. I guess..
Alright, I watched 10 minutes of that episode, and it was unbearable. It's just not for me. Sure, the writing is clever, for a show oriented towards children. However, it doesn't hold a match to anything I watch. Why watch this cartoon with humor geared for children, when I could watch a show with humor geared for my tastes?Keepeas said:You only gave it 2 minutes? and you dissected it?SendMeNoodz84 said:So, I've been a member of the site for quite some time, but I haven't really kept up with what's going on for a while now. Maybe it isn't for you, nothing can please everybody.
But I think that you need more than 2 minutes to decide that.
At the very least I think you have to finish an episode...and not the first two because they don't really represent the rest of the show.
Episode 4 - most people think it's the best starter:
Again, it's not for everyone

I do think you missed the best parts of the episode by only watching 10 minutes...
And the humor isn't just geared towards children.
The show as a whole is aimed to entertain people of all ages and genders.
The biggest draw factor for me was the excellent characters, each one having very unique, likable personalities while still having flaws.
Other factors include great:
animation
voice-acting
story
songs(yup, they have songs...and they're good)
I guess it just isn't for everyone...
That second youtube video there is a great explanation of how the whole pony craze started, if you want to know.
EDIT: I'm just curious, unbearable in what way?
The "this show is so girly and sweet it gave me diabetes" way?
Or
The "I tried watching it but I couldn't sit through anymore" way?
2nd EDIT: Do you like other animations? If so which ones?
