So, I've been a member of the site for quite some time, but I haven't really kept up with what's going on for a while now. So you must imagine my surprise when I come back and see people both ranting and raving about 'My Little Pony'. I just need someone to explain what the hell is going on. Did I miss something big? Is it some kind of joke? I don't want any hate spewed in the discussion, I am just really curious. Has "MLP" as some in the forums have called it, invaded popular culture? If so, I think I've finally disconnected with the young audience..

To clear it up for the people wondering how I could've missed this, I've been busy with work and my personal life so I don't have nearly as much personal time as I used to. META-EDIT: Through the help of some of the more respectable posters, I've come to an understanding. While my understanding would best be described as: "Stringy, at best", I've decided, after the careful reviewing and dissection of two minutes of the show, that it's not for me. If I want good writing, I'll watch Mad Men. I can see the draw factor, though. I guess..

You only gave it 2 minutes? and you dissected it?
Maybe it isn't for you, nothing can please everybody.
But I think that you need more than 2 minutes to decide that.
At the very least I think you have to finish an episode...and not the first two because they don't really represent the rest of the show.

Unbearable huh? Well that's to bad...
I do think you missed the best parts of the episode by only watching 10 minutes...
And the humor isn't just geared towards children.
The show as a whole is aimed to entertain people of all ages and genders.
The biggest draw factor for me was the excellent characters, each one having very unique, likable personalities while still having flaws.
Other factors include great:
animation
voice-acting
story
songs(yup, they have songs...and they're good)

I guess it just isn't for everyone...

Yeah I watched the "Know Your Meme" video. That was pretty entertaining.

To answer your questions, to me it was unbearable in the "I tried watching it but I couldn't sit through" kind of way. I was just totally uninterested and bored out of my mind.

And I do like other animated stuff. Futurama, Family Guy, Robot Chicken to name a few. When it comes to shows geared toward children, It's more stuff like Ren & Stimpy, Animaniacs,Freakazoid, Rocko's Modern Life, Angry Beavers, Spongebob, that sort of thing. But I must say again, I am not a big fan of animation at all. These are just the cartoons I enjoy/enjoyed.
