Most of Psychonauts was pretty out there, but I think the most "what the..." moment was the Milkman Conspiracy level. It sort of freaked me out... "Oh yeah, nice normal neighborhood. Hey, what? Crap! Who's...wait...road crew? Oh, hey, it's a girl scout thing, but it...Dang. Screw this, I'm going to go back to Sasha's perfectly normal shooting range and practice."

One thing I love about Halo 3 multiplayer is how screwy the melee is. I remember running up and meleeing a friend of mine and he FLEW back something around twenty feet, hit an obsticle and bounced another ten feet left.
That was the day I confirmed that either
A. Elite players are really hard hitters
B. Spartan players are really bouncy.

I was playing World At War split-screen with a couple friends, and the following happened:

Friend 1 comes up behind friend 2, and proceeds with unloading with a browning (he's about 20ft back)

Half a (huge) clip later, F2 has turned around at full health after taking 20-30 bullets (I was standing inside a building off to 1 side, so I saw everything from a better perspective than them), and starts shooting back with a semi-auto (Gewer I think, maybe the Carbine). He empties 2 full clips.

F1 has now emptied the full clip, and fired about 50 shots from the second.

Both stop shooting and just rush each other, still at full health, planning on a knife kill.

Both friends hit the other (not just swing, actually hit) 3 times. F2 backs up a bit, though whether for some space or as a result of the fight I can't remember, then swings out (by accident I think) without closing again, and gets the kill. I could see them through a window approx 50 feet away, and play enough CoD to know that the knife does not have a 10ft range ...

Final hits (taken) tally:

F1: 14 bullets from a semi-auto, and 3 knife hits (which should be insta-kill)

F2: Approx 120 browning bullets, and 3 knife hits

Long story short ... WTF?!

One of my personal favorites was in Saints Row 2. I had just started the game and gotten out of prison. As I step up onto the docks and take my first breath of virtual freedom two things re-welcome me to the city of Stilwater. Firstly, a very nice blue sky over a somewhat dilapidated warehouse district and secondly, just turning the corner toward me, a man in a hotdog suit being chased by a mob of pimps all decked out in different colors wielding everything from mace to baseball bats. I've played this game for over 100 hours and have never seen anything nearly this good since then.

I just finished Operation Anchorage in fallout 3 and I was wandering the wastes with my new stealth armor. I was having fun minding my own business when I traveled to close to a deathclaw with my stealth off. I ran for my life but only had a assualt rifle out. So I got out of its sight and took out my fatman. The deathclaw just turned the corner when I entered my Inventory and when I left it the deathclaw went flying intot the sky. It never came down.

I remember I was playing Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction and I was going after some targets for a fraction. I believe it was Chinese for the Russians. Anyway, they were in a jeep on an island. I decided to go with the "take a helicopter and blow shit up" route. Kill target one. Kill target two. Kill target three. I approach the final target... and when I get close they drive into the water and kill themselves. I win. The hell?

I had just finished the quest in Fallout 3 in which the Enclave raids Project Purity. After getting to the Citadel, I took power armor training. Afterward, I raided an Enclave crew camped on a destroyed bridge, killing only one to get his Tesla Power Armor. After this I got bored and wanted to try fighting some enemies along the DC lines with this armor.

I fast traveled to Dukov's place and went north. I was walking along a street that forked like a T at the end and there were building to my left, right, and one in front of me that looked accessible. As I'm edging along the road, an Enclave chopper flies over my head and over the cluster of buildings in front of me. I duck and stay [Hidden] and nothing happens. So I start edging towards that building and when I'm about 10 feet from it, an Enclave Officer kicks down the door with his laspistol trained on me.I ran like hell, and lost him but a Deathclaw came from nowhere so I crippled its legs and ran like hell some more.

About 10 minutes later I end up at a place called Alexandria arms, and some guy tries to mug me. I refuse to give in so he drops his unloaded gun and tries to fistfight me.As I blow his head off with a combat shotgun another Enclave helicopter lands and a full crew gets out. I run into Alexandria arms and kill everyone inside and use it as a safehouse. I periodically checked outside to see if they were out of range and eventually got out of there.

No more incidents with them after that.

At the time I felt like I was playing Mirror's Edge/Splinter Cell instead of Fallout 3.
And that is why you do not run afoul of the Enclave. We are omnipotent.

Put your faith in the Enclave, dear America, put your faith in John Henry Eden!

(Srsly, though, nice Fallout story...I love when things like that happen.)

For me the ending of Cryostasis where finally reaching the outside of the ship a massive crater is found which then contains some giant Greek God with a mace and hourglass who challenges you with a soul collecting mini-game as the boss fight.

The game left me deeply scared and confused

When you throw a molotov and it bounces.

Also when you play solitare, and there is no king of spades.

Earth Defense Force 2017. The entire fucking game.
First level more than most.
It starts out on a long city street, with people running in the opposite direction from you, so their obviously running from something you can't see yet.
You get closer, and you can see what their running from.
Giant ants.
Hundreds of them.
GIANT FUCKING ANTS.

And then you fight a Godzilla knock-off later on. That was awesome too.

In FF4 for the DS, there's a 'developer's area' where you have to fight "monsters" named after the developers. One of these monsters is a chocobo who pretty much instakills you by farting hearts on you.

There is no crack like Japanese game developer crack.

Two screenshots of enemies who killed me in Team Fortress 2.

The first [http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h145/squeekenator1337/nsfbluebaggrzislookinggood.jpg] is self-explanatory. Note that it doesn't say that I was killed by the late blahblahblah, which means that he's still alive when that screenshot was taken.

The second [http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h145/squeekenator1337/siraceislookinggood.jpg] is even better. Again, you can see that the enemy (yes, the red spy) is apparently still alive. Hmmm.
