I personally enjoy the games Darkest of Days and Mirror's Edge, despite all the hate they have gotten. I think Darkest of Days is a competent shooter despite bad graphics and that Mirror's Edge mixes FPS and platformer mechanics well.

Yeah thats a problem on this site after watching Yahtzee's review people seem to think that they must adopt the same cyncial attitude toward games he does even though ZP is meant to be more comedic and not to be taken seriously, at least I think it is.

OT: Well I'm a complete noob at AC2's parkour bits its the weirdest control for platforming I've ever seen, and SSBB is my favorite Wii game but I like both and I don't really get why people hate them either.

Plus, Navi really never got on my nerves.
The Water Temple.

I was utterly dreading it when I played Ocarina for the first time this year, and it turned out to be one of the most fun parts of the whole game.

It was all just about exploring in full and remembering where things were.

Me too, for the most part.

The thing about Assassin's Creed is that, for me at least, 90% of the game is great fun and the high points are totally glorious. The remaining 10% is a mishmash of stupidity and petty annoyances that drive me up and down the walls (including quitting the stupid thing -- I get that playing on PC is not how it was designed to be played, but come on).

It may just be me, but usually when you hear a lot of people complain about something, you usually think said thing would turn out to be true. But, I dunno, for video games, I see a lot of people making big deals out of nothing. =/

My first 2 for this are Prince of Persia and Assassin's Creed. My brother got these for Christmas and we've been going through them, and we haven't found anything wrong with the gameplay or story (some of the main complaints of both).

Also, another big one being, SSB: Brawl. I thought it was an improvement on Melee, more/better stages, online, custom stages, random collectible, and the like. And while I didnt play Melee like a madman like some people did apperently, I vastly enjoyed/still enjoy Brawl.

So, what have you people thought was over-exaggerations that you've heard about certain games/parts of games?

(ie. Bosses being letdowns when they werent, confusing plot when it really isnt, etc.)
I Hated the new PoP for its combat, characters, and story...everything else was ok.

Deadspace gets alot of hate?
Yes, it gets a lot of hate.

Like many other survivial horror games, it fell foul of the 'I hate it because it isn't Silent Hill 2' syndrome.
I see now . . . I've GOT Silent Hill 2, quite honestly there's also something to be said for branching out. Silent Hill 2 is a great horror game, I'm glad so many of us can agree on that that but come on . . . there's nothing wrong with there being an entry into the same genre that doesn't totally copy that game, that's like telling of the makers of say Jurassic The Hunted for their game not being enough like Halo . . . please . . . judge the game by it's own damn merrits

I agree with the Yahtzee sentiment to a degree, but remember he's a critic, and he's even said at the beginning of a lot of his reviews that he might like the game he's talking about, but being a critic isn't about lauding a game's good aspects all the way through. Besides, if he talked about things people already knew were good, there'd be no point in watching the reviews and he'd have put himself out of business

Killing Floor is great and yet people say that it suck because it's ripping of L4D.It is no sense ripping of L4d other then the fact that it's a survival game.

The 2 game series i have a problem with is HALO.. and the COD series pretty much as soon as it hit the 360 and such.. First problem with HALO is that its insanely over hyped... Its a mediocre shooter at best.. Think about it.. The single player is horrible.. You have infinite health just hide for a few seconds all you get back to normal.. Weapons arent that great.. Arent that many options.. The fighting gets dull
Are you serious about the lack of weapons in halo. I always thought that for a shooter it had the best assortment. Its my main resaons for prefering halo online to COD. It has a gun that shoots pink shards of whatever that blow up if you land enough of them. Where else can you find pink bullets and glowing blue plasma grenades?

GameTrailers bitched for the whole review of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days that the tutorial takes way too long. And I mean the whole review.

I played the game, yes the tutorial takes longer than most, but it doesn't take THAT fucking long!

I loved inFamous, but none of my friends did. I understand the graphics weren't the best, and a couple weird bugs would happen to Coles arms every once and a while, but its still got a great story.

I'm one of those rare, probably slightly insane, people that likes C&C Renegade for the campaign.
And I like Prototype, alltho I pay no regards to story when I can stealth consume a military guy, while disguised accuse someone else in the base of beeing me, watch him get shot, and then go Street Sweeper with the Bladefist.

It's mainly so the person reviewing games actually has something to write about other than how great/bad the game is.

BlackSite: Area 51
Clive Barker's Jericho
Mirror's Edge

I haven't finished Mirror's Edge yet, but I really enjoyed all three of those. BlackSite was no where near what I expected it to be, and I still dunno if you even ever went into Area 51 (if you did, they didn't make it really obvious), but when the credits came up I thought to myself "Hmm... that was a pretty fun game".

Also, the Tony Hawk series. THPS2 was awesome, and I think the first Underground was the best of all of them. I haven't played Ride and only played a demo of Proving Grounds, but PG really seemed like a huge step forward from the previous three. Underground 2 was just stupid, and I beat story mode in about 40 minutes. American Wasteland had a cool concept but was obviously rushed, still fun though, and the tucks and other shit you learned from the french guy were pretty fucking stupid. Project 8 I just played on (normal) xbox, but heard it was cut from the PS3/360 versions. Sure, they are unrealistic, but I tried Skate (was either that or Skate 2) and found it annoying. SkateIt was fun with the balance board, even though you had to recalibrate it or whatever every 5 minutes or if you barely moved the wrong way, but still pretty enjoyable.

Same here. I never really liked it online, and it was laggy as hell.

You sound scarred for life. Have you ever considered professional help?

OP: I agree about Assassin's Creed, I played it through twice. It works the opposite way (Bioshock, I'm looking at you). Mirror's Edge was quite fun in places as well, it was just a shame the fun bits were overlooked by the annoying bits.
