Your so-called friend, I'm sorry to say, is a shallow little asswipe. What business of his is it?

Additionally: I love it when body-snark is couched as concern about a complete stranger's health. It fools no one.

I don't know why you give a fuck about anyone else's opinion on the matter at all OP. Fuck that "friend" of yours. Attraction is attraction. Be with who you want to be with. Nothing more really needs to be said.

Genetics is a health risk.

Everything you do or are heightens a risk of something down the road. By your logic everything is not fine.
1. Yes being a man does yield certain genetic consequences but it's not a choice
2. Yes it is a choice but is required to continue the human race
3. It is a choice but is hardly that big a deal if it's just one soda
4. Again, not a choice

Some fat people lack the willpower to change their habits and some fat people are given a choice to live healthier (excluding the people that have a disease that prevent them from doing so).

OT: Does this women have excellent birthing hips? If so then you must marry her immediately and get them to good use!

Tell your friend this, almost 70% of the women in this country are overweight with 30% of them being obese. The left over 30% of not-fat will have a huge chunk of elderly women, unattractive faces, & flat yoga bodies. The small percentage of thin attractive women with curves will have exquisitely high standards in men, then you can remove "hot lesbians" from that equations because they're not bisexual like porn would have you believe.

Thin women being attractive is a new concept in history. In the days of Alexander the Great, women actually had male models & they just slapped tiny tits, a pot belly, & a wig on it. In medieval times they liked pale doughy women with small far-set breasts, flabby arms, thick thighs, & a pot belly. Why Litch Queens dominate the fashion world is anyone's guess.

Fat chicks need love too. But they gotta pay.

Fatness and hotness are not mutually exclusive. Though I highly doubt that I could ever find someone attractive if they were very fat or even obese, there are plenty of slightly or moderately overweight women who are quite beautiful.

Different guys are into different girls, if you like the fat ones then that's your personal preference, I think I'd catch an equal amount of flak if I said I loved muscle chicks (which I do like for example Monica Mowi). Both fat and muscle chicks are not society's standard of beauty (the kind of girl with a spray on tan who looks like she hasn't eaten in a week).

Quite so.

I, for one, don't love it. I mean, yes, the fact that someone thinks they come across as genuinely concerned me amuses me to no end, but the entire act of it, I find appalling, despicable and very punchinthefaceworthy.

"Oh, you like something I don't like? BURN IN HELL, HEATHEN!"

I am at the other side of the spectrum, I like muscled girls. Not the ones that are pumped full of steroids, but the natural muscle ones. The amount of flak I got was amazing. Even lost a few friends because of this, they never stopped teasing me, even when I told them that I got tired of the constant remarks. They never stopped, thus I told em to fuck off.

Now, years later, I got a nice muscle girl as a partner and none of my current friends dares to say anything rude, because she can fold them all in half.

So, you prefer a fat chick, then go for it. Whatever peels your banana.

Well, you've gotta admit: it does make it easier to identify the body-snarkers for what they are.

That was the most pessimistic and out of touch post in this thread. Yay for you.
Out of touch! Out of God damn touch?! Surely you mean off topic?

Yeah, it did go off topic, I felt OP needed a kick to the crotch for being a bit of a dick to his friends, though I'm not sure how it's pessimistic. I'm kinda running with the whole 'all your relationships will fail' bit this month, you'll see it multiple posts, my next one should have it, but I wouldn't say it's pessimistic.

I dunno, I guess I'm sick of people trying to live a soap opera love life, making things more dramatic than they are, and it's running into my posts more than usual. Regardless, yay for me!
Not sure I can condone the roofie comment, but I totally agree on the friends issue. My friends are like family and I've known them all for years. Some people I lose touch with because of geography but to just ditch them... it's inconceivable.

As for fat girls, well...

Tremendous sense of value.

My wife is overweight (shit, so am I, but that's not the point). Before we got together she had a years long on and off again thing for years with a guy who eventually told her flat out "I couldn't deal with what my friends would think if I dated a fat chick".

She's still friends with him, but she's never really forgiven him.

Ah yes, Monica Mowi... Om nom nom nom nom.
Here's the problem: the OP hasn't really been clear about how fat she is and that is why there is a polarising range of opinions.

Some people hear fat and assume "morbidly obese' and immediately go down the social stigmatising, health problems etc route. Other people are hearing fat and thinking Marilyn Monroe size women, she's not fat, actually kind of hot and a curvy and his friend is being a dick.

I mean, I hear you say you're into muscly chicks, I am thinking

and then I googled Monica Mowi...holy shit that is an impressive physique.
That is really at the extreme end of muscular, I would caution a friend of mine about going after a woman like that. You would be signing up to a partner who would probably spend 3-4 hours in the gym everyday, never drink alcohol, i mean that is not just a preference for a girl that delivers a firm handjob that is a serious lifestyle choice.

Nothing against your preferences - whatever floats your boat. I am just illustrating that terms like fat and muscle apply to a wide range of body types and illicit a wide range of opinions depending on where on that scale the person fits.

Being fat is a health risk. Doesn't matter if you're "comfortable" or a "real woman" or think you're a "healthy size". You risk health problems. So NO DEAR SILLY ESCAPISTS, BEING FAT IS NOT A PERFECTLY FINE THING TO BE.

That said, your friend is a huge douche and you shouldn't be friends with him anymore.

CAPTCHA: against the grain
I'm fat. Have been for most of my life. Last time I went to the doctor's they told me there was absolutely nothing wrong with me. Strong regular heart beat, normal blood pressure, don't get out of breath unless engaging in fairly intense exercise (they actually got me on one of those treadmill machines with electrodes and everything), don't have problems breathing, sleeping, or in the heat or cold.

So being fat is not a health risk in and of itself. the sort of lifestyle that may lead to becoming overweight (junk food, low exercise, lots of sitting) is a health risk, but having a few extra pounds is not.

It doesn't help that the photo you googled of Monica Mowi is an obvious photoshop.
Here is a better one:

She is not that huge as some of the steroid guzzling ones, and yeah, the level of muscularity that a person can desire is completely dependant on their own standards. My girlfriend's physique looks more like the girl in the first picture you linked.

Nephew of mine has a girlfriend that weighs more than 100 kilo's and is only 1,64cm's tall. He loves the very chunky ones. I personally do not like fat girls at all, no matter how lovely and nice they are, if you have too many places to store spare change, you are off my to-do list.

Put me down as another "your friend is being an asswipe" vote. Guys, it's okay to (at the same time, even!) support healthy eating and exercise and at the same time treat overweight human beings like human beings.

My god, this! A thousand times this!

That said,.....
I get where your friend is coming from, I think they are just looking out for you.
Because being fat is infectious?
Yes, it is.

If you date a woman who is fat who cooks for you, she will most likely cook to her standards. The same standards that make her fat.

If she shops, she will shop for her. The foods she buys will most likely make you fat.

OT: I don't think you should care, although there is a difference between fat and morbidly obese.
The social infectiousness of both obesity and healthy lifestyles also has scientific backing.

Your friends is acting like an asshole, tell him to his face that you like this girl and he can either deal with it or he can go find the largest phallic object around with which to go fuck himself.

Most people are insecure, shallow, ignorant cunts/dicks and will happily give you shit for the choices you make (that they don't like), usually under the guise of "I'm just helping", so I suggest you get used to dealing with these fuckers now.

Perhaps get a custom print t-shirt of the "stop liking what I don't like" angry kid meme.

A few things:

1) What the fuck Escapist, I'm not allowed to think fat girls are ugly anymore?

2) Your friend is a dick, not for being disgusted by fat girls, but because of the "fat girls can't have boyfriends". That just crosses the line from dislike to irrational hatred.

3) These images are appropriate here

Or more generally
