I have a question that I've been dying to know the answer to:

DO THE DECISIONS MADE IN THE GAME ACTUALLY EFFECT HOW THE STORY PROGRESSES? IF SO, TO WHAT EXTENT?

It's just that I've seen a lot of reviews which state that so many decision points in the game just have the same result regardless as to what you chose to do.

EDIT: Nouw said it better than I did. There are very few options that change the overarching story (and even then, they're minor), but it changes the way the characters interact.

The story? No, not really. The characters? Very much so, and that is where the charm of The Walking Dead comes in.

This.

The story doesn't really change, but the attitude of the characters towards you, does.

If you're anything like me, you'll do anything for that little girl to make sure she's safe...

obligatory "keep that hair short, clem"

I actually just finished the game today, gotta say the ending didnt choke me up as much as i thought (and heard) it would. Other scenes in the game choked me up more than the ending.

What i can not believe is that over 60% of the people playing the game(and most probably trying to protect Clam as much as possible). Are telling an 8 year old kid to shoot them. A character that has become more or less a surrogate parent to that kid. Ok you might be afraid that you turn, still you are probably chained to the radiator anyway so you are not going anywhere. Why would people want to more or less give that kid more issues by telling her to shoot you. BTW i didn't check the bowlingball bag but seen enough horror movies to know what is in it

btw it is my personal opinion about that problem :)

Ah I see :D

I made Clem shoot me, I think I needed to know that, if she can put Lee out of his misery, she can do it to anyone. It was the same sort of thing with Kenny. I took care of his son, but Kenny needed to kill that walker kid in the mansion, not for the kid, but for himself.

Okay let me put it this way. The Story DOES change, but this is through character interaction not in events. There are some Events in the game that WILL happen no matter what and some characters WILL die no matter what you do. How the characters ultimately react and interact changes though. So yes it changes the story as far as how you perceive your relation to the characters and the characters relations to you. Personally I think it's an incredibly brilliant way to make a story based game.
Basically that was my thinking for it as well. It wasn't an issue of whether or not I would kill Clem after I turned, it was teaching her that ultimately she has to take care of herself no matter how hard the situation is. If she can kill Lee then it shows that she CAN be out there on her own, as sad as that might be. And she will be out there on her own, who knows for how long. It's forcing her to deal with all the crap that's come before and preparing her for whatever is going to come next.
I can't read it because I haven't even played the game in the first play :(. In fact, I'm trying to decide whether or not to buy the game.

I haven't played it, but I have watched a few LPs on Youtube. I would say if you are more interested in a good story and character development, it's worth a buy. If you want amazing gameplay, not for you. If you've gotten the story spoiled, not for you. It's an experience more than a game to me.

The thing is: The decisions will affect YOU.

Get the game. Initially - and then for a long time - I had thought "A game based on a meh tv-show based on a meh comic which is based around almost everything I don't care for in games? Why should I possibly try it out?"

Boy, was I in for a surprise.

I figured she had been scarred enough at that point and I just didn't have it in me to make my goodbye into a lesson for her >.>

Better she knew Lee was at peace, than to always wonder if he was walking around out there.

I don't know. I figure she's experienced enough to understand that once you're turned you are dead. I don't think shooting Lee in the face will really bring her anymore closure... at least, not in the mind of a child.

The characters will react to you quite differently depending upon the choices you make. Otherwise, no, certain things will always happen regardless of what you chose.

Normally I'd agree, but she's not a child anymore, she's a child in a zombie apocalypse.
