what I always say: realistic eyes must look and behave like the original, IE. have the exact real shape, light-reactant iris and must look at a certain point. other than this is just the graphical problems.

Cmon, I don't think Final Fantasy XIII was that bad, the character models where too shiny but I think that they were very well done...really well done actually, including the eyes.

It'll be interesting to see where technology will lead us in the Uncanny Valley.

Personally, I didn't have too much of a problem with the animations in Heavy Rain. I think the worst offender was Ethan Mars, his face was just too stiff to really show off emotion. That doesn't say anything about the game itself, which I personally thought was great, but there's still quite a ways to go before we see what the other side of the valley holds.

I think they miss the point with this. It is possible to create photorealistic CG faces in photo form, but it's when it comes animation that the realism is lost. The human face has so many muscles and ways of moving and expressing that at the moment CG just can't make a face complex enough to be realistic in motion.
