The knight seemed to grab her attention.
<color=blue>"It's quite alright. Ozma is forgiven despite her show from yesterday and today. I think this lizard person had our attention at the moment. So forgive me if I withdrew my attention."

"Well, do not try. I want no help from you or your kin, save what I can take at the point of a knife."

Carmen's tail and wings seemed to disappear as she pointed to the blank TV screen. [color=bb0066] "It would be in that arena and only if necessary. To try and attack someone outside the arena wouldn't be honorable, correct?" [/color]

 

[Random berk]

"No, it certainly wouldn't, not that that seems to stop of our other ostensibly 'honourable' fighters. But even in the arena... what makes you think the revival system can restore memories? It probably can if it can keep their mind intact, but can you be sure?"

"Well... I'm not forcing this, but if you ever wanna talk, just say, alright? I've dealt with a lotta people, so I can help." Laguna was quiet for a moment, unsure how to ask this next question, then decided on a way. "In fact, I... think we've spoken before."

Dromaeus sprang to his feet, his jaws opening as he began to bellow at Laguna. But no sound came out. The muscles in his jaw twitched as he tried to come up with a retort, but he couldn't find the words. Laguna's point had mimicked his subconscious exactly, though he did not know why. The human did seem familiar, though his memories between his joining the Dark Brotherhood and his arrival in the arena, as well as why his weapons, armour and knowledge of the things he could do were so hazy and infuriatingly lacking. Something had happened, and he could have been battle brothers with this man, found himself a priceless magical set of weapons and armour, and become a jarl in Sovngarde itself for all he knew. But whatever it was, it lay just out of his grasp.

Carmen thought for a moment. [color=bb0066] "It would depend on how the revival system worked. I'm pretty sure it would only deal with restoring the physical condition of the dead opponent, so memories would be fair game to be messed with. The only way to know for sure would be to have someone willingly test it... but that surely won't happen." [/color]

Laguna flinched when Drom stood and began to yell, but when no sound came out, he relaxed. He was quiet for a moment, watching Drom in case he moved. "Uh... dude? Are you allright? Should I go get a doctor or something?"

EMily tapped the one-eyed man on the shoulder.
<color=blue>"Excuse me. I did apologize." She blinked twice.

 

[Random berk]

"I don't know. Like I say, they still have to deal with the person's personality." James said. He stopped and considered what Carmen had said.

"Hmm... can you feed selectively? I mean, take certain memories from a person, and leave others? Memories that invoke a particular emotion, or even a specific memory of a person or event?"

When LAguna spoke again, Dromaeus came back to himself.

"I am fine. I just... do not remember a time in which we could have met before."

@Slenn: Sorry. I assumed nobody was going to respond so I left for a bit.

The one-eyed man opened his eye and looked at EMily, raising his eyebrow at her attire. Resuming a neutral face once again, he glanced forward at the wall and said, "So you did. I am afraid I do not understand what you feel about Ozma's showing yesterday is requiring of forgiveness however."

<color=blue>"You said it yourself that she was a novice in some respects. I've only seen her once on the battlefield. So she is most likely learning. And in some of the same ways, I forgive you as well for your apology."

<color=blue>"But maybe we could try and make our first encounter friendly, instead of hostile?" She chimed in with a welcoming smile towards Dromaeus.

Carmen nodded with a small smile. [color=bb0066] "Yes, which is precisely why I offered to help that cat woman. To explain, imagine that the memories in your mind are floating blocks. When I feed or offer to erase memories, I can open these boxes to view what's in them and subsequently consume the ones requested and all the resulting emotions that came along with it. Eating a bad memory may make someone happier... and vice versa. Just remember that those memories aren't replaced at all, leaving that person's memory slightly fuzzy at best." [/color]

"Right..." Laguna seemed skeptical, what with the lizard-man's brain breaking for a second. "Well, if any bells do ring, say so, allright?"

James grinned.

Well now, that doesn't sound too bad. I always thought that a succubus was something that drained its victims dry and left them as lifeless husks, just like vampires from the old stories, back when vampires were actually interesting monsters. Sorry for the assumptions."

Dromaeus hissed again, this time longer and lower than when he had snapped at Laguna.

"Why are you both so damned persistant? I have no desire to be 'friendly' with any human. I would not even speak with one unless I had no reasonable choice. What makes you think I wish to forgive a life of slavery and humiliation just because I must spend time with a gathering of perfumed dandies who have never had to bear the burdens of those who consider themselves above them?" He said to EMily, voice dripping in spite.

Carmen shook her head a bit. [color=bb0066] "To be honest, that's how many energy drains end up. Since I'm somewhat powerful for my race, I don't need to completely drain or erase my opponent's minds to sustain myself. However, if I were to be damaged quite a lot, I wouldn't be above doing that. Even if there are revival machines, I'd rather not have to use them." [/color]

"Your apology is accepted. As you were." The one-eyed man curtly replied to EMily.

 

[Slenn]

<color=blue>"Thank you." She closed her eyes and curtseyed before turning back to Drom.

Despite the fact that he hissed at her with some venom, EMily remained calm.
<color=blue>"Well, to be perfectly frank, I never knew until a few minutes ago that you might hate humans. But I will not blame you for behaving this way towards me, since the humans you were in contact with viewed you with terrible disposition. I never knew about your history until just now. And if I never asked, I would never have known. But now that I do, I now have a better picture of you. I've met many other interesting intelligent creatures such as yourself, so that's why I approached you the way I did. So if you wish to bark at me in spite, feel free. But for the record, do you know anything about my nature or Laguna's even though you've never seen us before?"

Laguna shrugged. "I like helping people. And you, man, seem like you need a lotta help. Besides, I've had some trouble remembering stuff since I got here, and I suspect you do too. If we have met, wouldn't you wanna know?"

"By using the machines, you can restore yourself without having to murder someone else completely pointlessly." James pointed out. "I see how you might be forced to do that outside this arena, but here it would be the difference between a relatively consequence free sparring match, and a duel to the death! Why cross that line if you were fighting someone who didn't deserve that end?"
