Hey I got a rules question:

Whats the status on taking 10?

(for the uninitiated taking ten is when you make a check by adding your modifier to 10 instead of what you roll for out of encounter skill checks.)
essentially, if you're not:
- being rushed
- being threatened
- being distracted
- dealing with a complex task
you can take ten. There isn't really a take 20 though.

Okay, so I've got a display map up, essentially, and have chosen your "tokens", or how you'll identify your characters in combat maps. Keep in mind these are the best options from a list of many, but none of them are perfect or exact.
So, without further ado:
Higurashi/Marisa: D5
Mastersqueak/Erik: D6
LostClause/Rairdon: D7
CaptainGuy/Breer: D8
Mimi/Elizabeth: D10
Neosage/Grukk: D9

Salasar the Dragonborn roared at the trio of goblins in front of him even as they charged the group. he let his breath go, and let it be filled with acid. Shifting forward, he let his wicked scimitar come down on the goblin in front of him.
Minor action: Dragon breath.
@ goblin d2: (attack roll)
@ goblin c3: (attack roll)
@ goblin d4: (attack roll)
damage: (damage roll)

Move action: shift to e2.

Standard action: guiding strike
@ goblin d2: (attack roll)

Dio shifted back from the wolf harassing him- the wizard wasn't going to last much longer. Shifting into a run to cover the great distance, Dio used every last ounce of speed he had to reach the wolf pinning his friend to the ground though he could do nothing while waiting to catch his breath at this moment
Move action: Shift to h3.

Standard action: demote to another move action. Run to a12.

minor action: none.

I seem to have generated some confusion.

If one wants to attack a creature, one follows this order.

Attack roll (a d20 plus modifiers) to see if you hit the thing.

Damage roll to see how much you did.

I thought it would be better to ask here instead of on the group. Would it be possible for me to either hit the bandit in F4 from D2 or can I move more than to D3 without any attacks of opportunities?

I think you can hit the bandit from where you are. I don't think you can go to D3 because that seems to be occupied by the gate. However when moving you provoke an attack of oppurtunity by entering the adjacent squares next to someone then leaving that range.

That' what I'm trying to work out. I can shift to D2 then shoot without an attack but I'd like to check with ninjablu if I can hit him.

Apologies for not noticing this when it would have been more helpful.

You could certain have shifted to D3, or even further, but only because at the time the bandit at E3 was prone and couldn't hit you with an opportunity attack. Since he is now standing, this is no longer the case.
However, people do not give other people cover, so it would be an unnecessary motion.

I'm also realizing my picture, fancy as I tried to make it, may be hard to interpret. The spaces D3, E3, and F3 are gate spaces, yes, but can be both moved and seen through. The rest of the spaces in Column 3 are wall spaces, with one cliff space at the very bottom.

Also, I didn't catch this right away though it's so obvious I'm smacking myself in the head now.
Drawing a weapon that is on your belt in fourth edition is merely a minor action, not a move-equivalent action like it was in 3.5.

Hey~ I saw that you were looking for someone on the tabletop gaming group. I'd love to join. I've got the core books, but I have a hard time deciding on class and race and stuff, partly because both me and the party I have played with were noobs and quite...not as serious as I suspect this to be. I'm very willing to learn, though, and I have quite the grip on the basics of strikers/defenders etc. and what the classes do, I'm just a bit better at 3.5.
I hope that made sense

It made some sense. You've got the books, the will, and some experience, and that's really all you need. Create a level one character(we never got anywhere, and the two remaining players agreed to a do-o'er), and keep this in mind:

"You were all born in Eratonia, the last remnant of the Paxia Empire. Your nation has frequently conflicted with the nation Arkel, which is composed almost entirely of Dragonborn. As such, Eratonia is significantly racist against Dragonborn.
The other major neighbor to Eratoina is the Church of Many Faiths. It is a centralized region within which all religious law is dictated. The Gods are either of the Pantheon, or illegal to worship. All churches and religious academies throughout Eratonia are directly tied to CMF."

Depending on your race, and class, I'll have further details for you.

Here's a personality form for you to fill (you can find an example on pages one and two):

Name:
Age:
Gender:
Height:
Weight:
Appearance:
Background:
Traits, quirks, mannerisms:

The actual mechanical stuff has no real set format. Some have been using the character generator you can find online, and I've mostly been following one format (mastersqueak's character would be a good example).

Revamped Marisa in me old post. At first I had 8 in STR and 20 CHA, but it would have just been too unbalanced for role-playing purposes.
I did find it didn't matter at all until Heroic tier feats came along though, which is kinda interesting. Most will recommend 10-13 STR for feats as a Chaladin, but I didn't find any use at all for it. Still, being too unbalanced just looks bad.

Looks good. the strength level might have something to do with some later feats. As is, you should end the game with a 12 in strength, and there might be somethings that you'll miss out on later because you don't have the strength ability for it.

EDIT: However, you may not even care about them. It really is up to you.

Oh, I meant Epic tier. So yeah, later feats indeed. Starts at lvl 21, heh. I've looked through all the feats, powers and prayers, and there's nothing I want from STR until Epic, so yeah. It works.

Cool.

I should bother more people. Simply placing a notice in the tabletop group is not enough it seems.

Hehe, yeah. I wish my RP buddies IRL would get on here, but that's not going to happen. I'll just keep trying to pick up people from IRC. Almost got one yesterday but, man, it's like fishing.

Out of curiosity, now that we've done it a little bit, would Higurashi and Mastersqueak prefer to do the roleplay in the user group still, or move it to the thread?

Whoa nelly, change of username. Um, I would prefer the user group so I don't have to switch back and forth. My laptop is slow enough as it is.
Edit: On the other hand, I could use some site for the dice rolls. The forums are a little prettier than the user groups after all, and you can edit whenever. So on reflection, forums. My brain is tired.

Care not, do I.

Using the thread would mean people get to read our (mis)adventures though, which is cool.
