Screw you Utah!!

Yeah, we know porn can be dangerous. It can, like... erm... sorry I lost my train of thought. Porn no bad.

Annnnnnnywho, does anyone really believe that Utah or any other state will ever ban porn? I mean, really? I've been studying porn for the past 5 years (lie) and I have suffered no side effects. None. You know what, lemme rant a little.

You people have it easy with porn nowadays. Back in my day, you had to sneak into your parents room and find your dads porn stash just to get a view of a boob and those crappy VHS tape with awful audio and you had to rewind or fast forward over to the good bits and making sure you left it at the scene you first found it in, so your dad isn't suspicious. NOW you just type "boobs" into Google and there we go. So damn easy!!

*clears throat* Ban porn to save humanity? This thread is all over the funny place. The insanity.

Down on blue balls! Down on blue balls! Blueballing should be a crime!!

God no. It's functionally impossible to ban porn. That's it. Can't happen. Never ever.

As dumb as politicians sometimes seem to get, none of them (With perhaps the exception of Santorum) would ever really try to do anything about porn. It's all just rabble rousing to get scared mothers and insane religious nutjobs on their side.

Eh, another crazy nutjob in US suggests something insane.

Let me title that as "Prohibition V.2", and see hot it goes. Last time it went well, few million death wasn't that bad.

Oh, I also forgot to point out that Utah went out of their way to say they wouldn't ban porn. They just made a resolution (The technical term for 'Rabble Rousing Document') and, bizarrely, blamed McDonalds for ruining our youths with dastardly free WiFi.

Well I don't really care about this, because I don't like or use porn and it's obviously not going to happen anyway.

But it is kinda funny to watch people get all NO NOT THE PORN SAVE THE PORN-.
Does that make me a bad person?
Obviously. But I'm okay with it. ;)

WHAT? It isn't enough that they attack porns, but now they are attacking sacred FREE WIFI? Now they crossed the line. No one deserves this. Unless it only applies to Utah, then you kind of saw it comming.

Eh, as long as implication doesn't scare you. I mean, with all those sexual stimulation gone, people have to get their fix from somewhere else. Like raeping, whorin', black market porns(which may or may not be legal) - and big bucks for not-so-legal enterprises running said businesses.

That's a pretty low opinion of people who watch porn, but fair enough.
And no, it doesn't scare me, because like I said, it's not gonna happen anyway, they're just making a load of noise but I'm pretty certain they won't get anywhere with it. But hey, if they do and it turns Utah into a sexpocolypse, you called it.

I'm all for this. I don't get anything out of porn. It would be nice if all of those who do felt my agony...

More seriously, they're not going to ban porn. Any attempt at doing so is an attempt to gain support from certain voters who agree with the ban but aren't able to discern that they're being played.

I think at some point society as a whole really does need to sit down and evaluate its porn "addiction" in a way that isn't fueled by shame, anger, and outmoded morality. We've been having that conversation online for years, but porn isn't demonized online either, so we can have these discussions in a reasonable and objective way.

Obviously these people aren't really broaching the topic in a way that will lead to a more measured response. If anything it will just reinforce theocratic views to ban porn and a elicit a "but muh porns!" from other people.

Also, and this is just me personally, I think society needs to stop giving a flying fuck about this kind of thing right now, and perhaps focus on our impending doom instead.

Utah is just tired of being the country's per capita porn consumer king, so they're handicapping themselves to give everyone else a chance.

France tried it in 1946.

Went over about as well as Prohibition did in the U.S.

Like it or not, banning it only hands the business and people over to less legit sources.

Porn is for people without lovers.

Impotent hetrosexual overreacting outh to be a crime. Why should an industry that violates children to titilate the fetishes of degeneratees be so utterly sacrosanct? why do hetrosexuals allways whine about every last bit off sexualization being removed no matter how detrimental, despicable or outright abominable it may be
Because, freedom, power, guns, rule 34, control AMERICA AND FREEDOM!!!

Something something, expression of something.

The difference is you just can't stop porn from being made, they tried in the past and it didn't work, this was when photo and video cameras were nonexistent, or prohibitively expensive.

Comparing it to prohibition though is both absurd and dishonest. It's impossible to ban, attempting it wouldn't lead to millions of deaths, just 300 some odd million people being in violation of the law, many of whom would be minors. Still a porn ban wouldn't lead to running gun battles in the streets, because it's too easy to distribute, while any violation related to it would have to be a slap on the wrist. Also it's been ruled already that the first amendment protects porn, so no ban would ever go into effect as a law, and if it did it wouldn't last long.

Also we already have "Prohibition V.2", it's the global treaty based drug ban, it doesn't even work in places with death sentences for drugs... Though like alcohol prohibition, it's lead to running gun battles in the streets and millions have died as a result. Also due to the legal nature and the demand for drugs, terrorist and criminal groups are able to easily fund themselves with illegal drug trafficking...

So there were running gun battles in the streets of French cities, millions of French citizens died in the process, and the French Government actually some how poisoned people partaking illicit porn? Really, because that's how US alcohol prohibition went, while I've never heard of anything remotely similar happening over a porn ban.

OT: The supreme court has already ruled on this, porn is protected by the first amendment of the US Constitution. Porn isn't going anywhere, not even underground.

let me express my grievances in order
1: while freedom of speech is an important principle to protect i would not classify the pornographic industry as that. it is higly abusive and utterly unscrupulous, willing to go to any inhumane extrme in order to turn a profit.
2: the statement "blueballing should be a crime" is higly problematic as what hetrosexaul men call "blueballing" usually boils down to a woman not wanting to have intercourse with them. the coersion of consent by any means is illegal and should be in a civilized society
3: it seems three months can't pass on the internet without some pack of hetrosexaul manchildren complaining about how feminist illuminati want to castrate them whenever a creator of content decides to retroactively revoke sexualized content of women. i'm pretty sure teenage girls wouldn't issue death threats if a new version of twilight was rleased where Edward and Jacob never took their shirts off

As someone who doesn't use it, I'd enjoy a ban just to watch the addicts-in-denial sweat. :D
