Warcraft Has Made More Money than Any Other Video Game Movie

On the subject of video game based movies, can I just leave a confession here and admit that I really, really liked the first Silent Hill movie? Despite that little girl's horrible acting and the Pyramid Head pandering, I thought it was a great adaptation with some really interesting changes made to the source material. Too bad the second one was so awful, having tried to take it all back and be more like the games. Oh well, at least it was fun to see Sean Bean interact with Kit Harington again.

I don't think you have to "confess" to liking anything. Well, ideally. Not movies at any rate. I haven't seen Silent Hill, but there's plenty of "decent," if not "good" VG-based mainstream movies out there. IMO, their ranks include Prince of Persia, Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil (the first) and most recently, Warcraft. I've nothing against Silent Hill being liked.

Though if Sean Bean didn't die, then that's another matter entirely. ;p

Actually I thought the first Resident Evil and Prince of Persia were both great movies, and the first Mortal Kombat has the kind of campy fun that the video games would eventually embrace. All three are actually great! I actually thought the first Tomb Raider was pretty decent, and even the first Hitman was quite watchable.

Ideally yes, one wouldn't need to confess to anything, but there's quite a bit of hate for Silent Hill for the reasons I listed above, even though I feel like if your creative changes are done well (which Silent Hill and the first Resident Evil both did) it can make the movie great, especially when your films are based on video games where the bulk of the story comes to you in the form of journal entries sitting about.

As for Sean Bean living or dying, well... I suppose you'll have to watch it and find out. ;P

Given the popularity of Michael Bay movies ... movie with rubbish plot but a lot of expensive special effects winning big at the box office ... not that surprising.

So basically blizzard writers are pretty much incompetent most of the time, atrocious at others and with very rare nuggets of promise. So sort of like the comicbook industry really.

I have given up on them.

I can excuse the occasional mistake but their bad writing is systematic.

I don't play their games anymore as I can no longer stand the cringe.

I think if the sequels slowed the hell down a bit and gave the characters more room to talk to each other in a way that isn't pure exposition (The scenes with Durotan and his wife were really good), then I'm all for more movies.
The movies just need to calm down.

Exactly. I wanna have 10 minutes being in the streets of Stormwind at least.
