Woo-hoo! I finally got into the beta for a game!....that's been out for 3 years. o.o
Anyways, after listening to Total Biscuit rave about the game on his podcast for the past couple of weeks - then watching his "instructional" video on the game - I decided to go ahead and pick it up. So I started playing over the weekend and I think I've got a pretty good feel for it.
First: the "Rate My Gear/Offer Me Suggestions" bit.
I went with Mag as my starter and took the Paris bow for my primary. Since starting, I've managed to build myself some Dual Heat Swords and when I get home from work today my Twin Grakata will be complete!
I've been thinking of pursuing the Attica as for my primary weapon...how does that bugger fair? Also, any tips on what some good weapons would be for a noob like me to pursue here in the early game? Just as an FYI: my playstyle seems to have become rather melee focused.

Just recently started playing and I've gotta say I'm already quite hooked on it. I mean come on...you're a frickin' space ninja! With magical powers! Think I made a good choice with starting as Mag, I'm really enjoying her kit. Got to do my first Tower mission last night. Gotta say...those Tower tilesets are easily one of the most interesting/beautiful/amazing indoor 3D environments I've ever explored. And the background music for the Towers...seriously, the entire time I was going through that place I had the boner because everything about it was so frickin' awesome. I now fully understand what Total Biscuit was saying when he said that the majority of appeal from this game stems from the "rule of cool".
I even got to find a secret in the Tower! And I quickly learned that they're actually full of secrets if you look hard enough. All the way towards the top of a chamber with a ridiculously high ceiling I saw a series of shuttered windows...and one was open. I hopped my way up the wall and through the window...sure enough: I found a secret treasure room! I also found another secret area...though there wasn't much to it other than a loop of chambers. It almost seemed like an obstacle course of some kind because there weren't any enemies, but rather a whole bunch of traps.
That and the music completely shifted when I got to the "start of the course"...which was jumping down a huge shaft filled with lasers in a grid pattern. Wandered around for a bit, eventually made it into this big air shaft that shot me up into another huge chamber that eventually led me back to the room with the laser-grid pit. The entire this fast-tempo purely drums beat was playing.
Anyone find something similar to this? Anyone happen to know what it's all about? Or was it just a random series of rooms that I came across?
