To me it doesn't sound like an RPG so much as another attempt to create a "Planetside" type experience, using the justification that anything can be labeled as an "RPG" if you take things literally enough. From the way it sounds,
it's pretty much going to be a shooter, and seems to be based more on factional conflict between players than PVE combat. When I hear the term "procedurally generated" mentioned but nothing about a storyline, I confess it's a
cause for concern. I'm also wary when I hear that their biggest claim that they might night suck is having some former Funcom employees, "Funcom" made some decent games, but at the same time they did drop their stock until under $2 a
share due to impractical expectations.
To me, if they are going to do a "Warhammer 40k" RPG, they need to look more at the novels than the minatures game and focus on the world at large. They should probably focus almost entirely on the Imperium for players and use the other races largely as a source for things to have people fight against. You could do a lot with 40k, as there is a huge world to explore and lots of things to throw into it, as well as ready made treasure filling the role of "magical items" in the form of Archaeotech and such. Simply put they need to put an eye more towards "Dark Heresy" and "Rogue Trader" and less towards "Booyah Space Marines!". While Space Marines are fun as a concept they aren't really an RPG-type concept and work better for war games, which of course helps reinforce my suspicians about what this will turn into. It's really hard to justify a lot of Space Marines running around as individuals doing whatever they want on the battlefield or otherwise, and on top of that, most of these guys are supposed to be periodically brain wiped to avoid corruption, there are exceptions, but not enough to justify tens of thousands of players all running around as leashless Space Marines all from chapters that don't wipe, or at granted an exception.
