That'd be a little TOO ubur, considering all the Grey Knights are powerful pyskers armed with force halbreds and storm bolters. Then again . . .

It'd make for good "I'm a one man army slaughtering millions of goons" gameplay. Man what I wanna see, a Warhammer/Warhammer 40k Game in the vein of Viking or Dynasty Warriors.

Six- If those are Chaos Space Marines, I'll eat my hat. Adding some spikes and snarls to your standard Space Marine model does not Chaos make. Neither does adding cheesy dialogue lines. Chaos is ultimate corruption. Chaos Space Marines are meant to be one of the scariest things in the universe. They're 8 foot tall, armour plated, genetically enhanced monstrosities for chrissakes. They should scare the crap out of you.
They shouldn't, however, scare the crap out of a space marine. They are clearly your inferiors in combat and they really don't want to promote cowardly behaviour in a space marine.
To me as a viewer, they should look scary. Have you seen GW's design work for Chaos? It's some fucking messed shit. I'm not saying that the player's Marine should cower at the sight of Chaos. That doesn't make it any scarier for the player themself. What they should do is incorporate the designs and concepts of Games Worksop into game models that are truly nasty to look at. Judging by this video, they've taken a very quick glance at the Chaos plastic models, then incorporated that into the game from memory.

And if anything, Chaos marines are superior in combat to normal Space Marines. They have all the armour and genetic modification of the Index Astartes, and the added drive and powers of Chaos. They really are the most terrifying force in the Galaxy (with the possible exception on 'Nids), and should at least put up a challenge.

I'm not trying to put down this project before it's even come out. I just believe that if you're going to adapt something, you should adapt it right. Hopefully, with this just being an Alpha, they'll improve on everything I've mentioned. As it is, however, I'm not overly impressed.
You are neglecting the point that the majority of the 9 Traitor Legions are veterans and have more than several loyalist SM's liftimes of experience thanks to time being whacked off all that "Cheesing" in the Eye.

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't Chaos Space Marines have different physical appearances and "attributes" depending on which Chaos god they've aligned themselves with? I wonder if they'll take this into account in the game cos that would be cool.
Sometimes yes, sometimes they're basically just marines with More Spikes.

Not sure about this. Would have liked a squad based tactical shoot like rainbow 6
Or a large scale run and gun like Battlefield.

Been a while since I looked in on the world of WH40K but I remember most of it being squad based

The "cinemactions" gah! every few seconds stop to play a cutscene, not good. Looks good in screen shots and demo movies
but after the 60th time? Worse than repeating battle animations in JRPGs...

A solid meh from me right now. It's still really early to tell. I am not of fan of all the quick cimaction scenes. I think they detract more from game play then enhance it.

I would be a lot more interested if you got to take control of multiple different units through out the course of the game. Assault marines, Dreadnought and Terminators would all be a blast to play.

It would be great if you were playing as a returning Primarch.....most are dead or turned to chaos but there are a few who just vanished...that would be kinda sweet.....also a Primarch would deal with those pesky nids just fine

Is it alright if I just say "everything j-e-f-f-e-r-s said" with the added point that I was so bored I stopped watching about a minute in? I'm crazy into 40k; I should be ecstatic. Something is wrong.

Well, yes they are about superior to a normal space marine, but the character obviously isn't a normal space marine; a veteran sergeant at least.

Actually, I just thought of something; they look like renegade marines, not 'proper' chaos marines who generally hang around in The Eye of Terror. If they're just renegades, then they aren't necessarily ubered up by the powers of chaos, and they probably don't have as much experience as the protaganist does. They're just space marines gone bad, kind of wanna-be's if you will.

Also, has anyone considered that when he said there would be hundreds of 'cinemactions', he mant hundreds of different ones? You really can't blame them for having limited animations in something that's currently pre-alpha. This is why I think publishers should show their work as late as possible.

Sorry but this looks epic phail. I think the combat system would get boring and repetitive. Also, since when did bolters start shooting rubber bullets..?

WANT
If this turns out to be shite, I will lose a massive chunk of my faith in the game developer world.

Meh, it seems like a hollywood-film version of 40K. My knowledge of 40k isn't perfect, BUT:

- The Bolters seem completely wrong - they are more like pee shooters rather than the lethal punch of the Space Marines. Heck, I could swear I saw him shoot a traitor guard multiple times and it had little effect. Rather than, say, exploding the Guardsman.

- The Traitor Marines look abit naff, really.

- The Chainsword seems to be little more than a huge blunt bayonet, rather than a device to slice through armour/flesh/bone like hot knife through butter.

Now, personally, I don't have a problem with changes. BUT in general I tend to find that when these changes happen, the game isn't going to turn out well (For example, they'll try and generalise it for a wider market but end up with a game thats too 'hardcore' for the 'casual' games, but too shallow/weak for the 'hardcore' players).

As for the game itself, I see some issues:

- These 'cimactics' just look abit rubbish, really. Gears of war had it when you chainsawed an enemy, but that was quick, and satisfying. Here, they seem to be just invastive and annoying.

- Gun combat seems abit dull here

- Melee combat seems to have the standard "Fight each bad-guy one at a time as the rest will wait" formula.

Overall, it just doesn't seem to have much in the way of a 'wow' factor for me. Although the graphics and environments are good from what I've seen and the hive (I think its a hive-city..?) seems impressive graphically (Although I suspect it'll be very linear, so that'll most likely just be eyecandy).

I'm giggling like a schoolgirl right now. I cannot wait.

EDIT: Watched more of the video. Lost a bit of confidence, but still pumped as hell.

WTF? Why was I not informed about this game months ago. I loves me my Space Marines. Anyway with the brutal kills it looks like a winner in my book. However I will only buy it if it is on PC. If not then it can go frack itself with a chainsword using Ork mould as lube.
"Set for release on the Xbox 360, PC, and PS3 platforms in 2009, the is currently in serious alpha status." Straight from the site with the vid.

hope it has a huge battle mission with a whole battlion of spsce marines vs chaos marines
That's exactly what I hope they don't do (one mission would be alright, but not the whole game like that).
As fanboyish as it may make me sound, I'd rather them stick to the lore a little more, Choas marines are not common and more often than not are heading up armies of demons/lost and the damned. It annoyed me how in DoW the Chaos army consisted mostly of marines. There is already a marine army ...*wanders off muttering*

Possible exception?
Necrons anyone?
And how about those orks, I doubt the humans feel good knowing that at any point that if the orks could be banded together they would be able to easily destroy every other army combined...twice.
Oh and lets not forget dark eldar, those arrogant bastards may seem pissy in the tabletop game, but they aren't particularly nice as far as slavers go.
In fact, I'd rather deal with chaos lost and damned (chaos is mostly Lost and the damned, not marines) than eldar scouts, they are not renowned for their friendlyness.
Hell even Imperials are scarier than choas, Anarchy vs totalitarian religious cult. You're less likely to get burned by your own as a chaos deserter than you are as a human loyalist and for the love of god stat the hell away from the chaplin
Hell the only army that is consistantly less scary than chaos is tau, and thats provided they keep the kroot under strict watch, I'm not too keen to have them chowing me down.

if that's what i think it is (a space marine game i saw a video to ages ago) then I must say that i think it'll be just another gay-ass action game that is liked by the kind of people who get a kick out of completing movie franchise games

the only possibly good WH40K game would be my MMO - see thread 'Hammerfest'
We had fun doing that. Was it me that helped you? Or was that another thread?

Anyway, that 'Wii Boxing' overkill thing was a bit shit. My hope plunges with every thing i watch about this.
