I find myself more interested in assembly/modelling than the painting. Though I have a few Ideas for paint schemes.
Thousand Sons painted in a more uniform style of the Red Corsairs.
Nice, go for it. But are you going to have those weird Egyptian hat helmets as well? They're comically oversized on the miniatures.

Nah, I'm going to get some of the Tzseench (misspelled it I know) Champ helmets.

What part of ireland you in? Don't go to GW, whatever you do, they're pricks. Try art and hobby, or maybe to a lesser extent, a graffiti shop.
The Goddamn West. Last time I ordered a Termie Sorceror from Art and Hobby it took SIX MONTHS to show up.
Wow, that's shit, even for them. I'm in Clare, so I feel your pain. Two GWs, both in Dublin. Ah well. And yeah I'll echo the others sentiments, don't basecoat in red, it'll only fuck up all your other colours.

All I can say, is that there are many websites devoted to mini painting; hitting up the escapist is sub-optimal. And many of those websites also offer links or actually distribute the items.

No, I live in Norway.
Oh come on. Stop being mean to the poor guy. Everyone knows that norway isn't a real place.
Have I been hallucinating my entire life?

That would explain a lot.

I've tried my hand at painting Warhammer figs once (my sideline during the very brief time I was unemployed after graduation) and found out that acrylic paints work fine:
Then again, I didn't use an airspray for them. Got them already basecoated black.

Anyway, try hobby shops and if they fail you, try the hardware store? That's where I usually see airspray cans of paint.

And before anybody asks, I was instructed to paint it green. And I wasn't able t do much detailing to that yet.

Does anybody know where I can get my hands on decent Red Spray Paint for W40k Minis in Ireland (or the UK to a lesser Extent)?
Unless your dealing with the larger models, spraying them from a can isn't a great option to try. Only way you can get the paint stream thin enough to not plug up any details on the mini is with an airbrush system (Buy a proper one not the games workshop rip off). And I'd recommend a matt Light Grey as your base coat.
