The original Tyranic Carnifex.

Nothing scared me so much across the table from my melee focused Grey Knights than one of these guys.

In fact they inspired me to drop my Grey Knights and buy a 'nid army. And I had to make sure my Carnifex was this model.

Orks wouldn't fall back in fear. They'd charge it, laughing as their mates are cut down. Does that make them foolish? Or unable to feel fear?
Orks lore-wise are well known for being cowardly if put up against something powerful. :p

For design...

I would also love to see someone create the DoW II Warboss with full wargear as a minature.

Nobz! they epitomize orks: they're big, green, tough, and covered in random chunks of metal.

*edit*
the ork vehicles they haven't updated are full of fail, though.
There's a phallic joke in there somewhere, I just can't see it... You're right about the funny little trucks and buggies though. They weren't so much bad models (though they weren't good by any means), just ridiculously small. Small and easy to hide behind terrain features.

It's a long time since I played, but among my favourites from an aesthetic perspective are the basic infantry units of a lot of factions. Imperial Guardsmen, Astartes of all varieties, Tau Fie Warriors. There's something really cool about a thick squad of vaguely futuristic, bulky armoured figures with rifles. With most of those, there's huge potential for conversion as well. Guard veterans and Chaos Marines can look amazing with enough bitz and imagination.

Fluff-wise, Imperial Storm Troopers or Cadian Shock, handsdown.

Imperial Stormtroopers, has to be. Mere humans, devoid of all the genetic advantages that make the Astartes so survivable and famous, but trained to the absolute highest level of mental and physical perfection that an average Joe of the 40k universe can hope to reach without biological or technological modification, and equipped with some of the most sophisticated and effective wargear available to Imperial soldiers.

In fact, one-on-one I'm fairly sure a Stormtrooper could kick any Spartan II's arse. Deadliest Warrior, get on it.

While I don't actually play table top 40K (I just read the books and play DoW), my favorite unit has to be the Dreadnought.

The combination of being one of the most intimidating looking things on two legs this side of the warp (Or the clouds, in the case of Titans), their fanatical and, in some cases, dimwitted battle cries, and the fact that, with a few exceptions, their basically Dead Space Marines who have come back to bestow the justice of the Emperor.

Also, YouTube loves Dreadnoughts too.

EDIT: Favorite army/faction is still the Imperial Guard though.
