The multiplayer in warhammer space marine may not be anything special but it has one thing wich i honestly think is the smartest i have ever seen in a long time. when your killed you can copy your killers loadout, no deathstreak no special item its simply a feature. i have been playing other FPS multiplayer games online and the fact that higher level player has such overpowered guns that i cant use is so stupid, Space marine lets me copy the loadout of my killer wich lets me use whatever powerfull gun he uses wich is brilliant.

what do you think of this feature and should more games have it?

The bad idea is to let people of all levels play together, since obviously the higher the level the better the gear, which makes for an imbalanced game. Now I realise this is where copying someone's loadout comes into play, which seems like a good idea at first glance, but just because you have the same weapons and all that doesn't mean you're as good with them. They had the time to learn how to use them effectively. You don't.

undoubtably, the biggest problem with COD and the like is that a player with a month more experience can grief the hell out of other players

also, the space marines have shitloads of health so you need prolonged fire as opposed to a quick head shot to kill

I agree with KarmaTheAlligator. I don´t know how exactly game joining works in Space Marine, but if there´s a matchmaking system, putting people of similar levels together seems like a better idea. They might still be on different skill levels (which is pretty hard to evaluate), but at least there aren´t any players that are given an advantage by the game itself. Although if there´s a list of games or something that Idea goes out the window.
Alternatively, one could balance all weapons to be more or less equally strong, so leveling up and unlocking new ones would give you more choice but not more power.
Of course, if you don´t want to do either of those, copying someone´s loadout at least helps a bit.

I actually think more multiplayer games should consider simply dropping the whole unlocking business. I´m not saying we should get rid of it entirely, because it does have some merits, like an added incentive to play (although one might argue that playing the game should be enough of an incentive), but not having it simply makes the game more balanced.

Yeah. I understand that unlocks are a cute idea and add a little of RPG like persistence to your shooter experience, but if I had to choose between "Unlocks" and "Balanced Gameplay" for a feature that would best extend the lifespan of my shooter game, I know which one it's going to be every single time.

I think it's the player, not the loadout. I can kill people all day long in call of duty matches with the "starter" weapons like the M16 or MP5 while they try to blow me away with the AK47, G11, Spectre, Kirpas, and Commando.
