Thank you so much for following this thread. You may be but one person, but even if you are the only one to do these things I tell you to do when brawling online, it will be a better server for us all.

Step one: Gang up on anybody who spams specials over and over again. Let them know that these tactics should and will not work.
Step two: Taunt parties are not the work of the devil. These people are having fun in their own way. Do not lay a finger on them.
Step three: Do not taunt party if this leaves one person actually fighting. He wants to fight, it is someone's duty to give him a fight. It is NOT their duty to all gang up on this one guy who doesn't like taunt partying.
Step four: If you DO taunt party, do not take part in the match at all.
Step five: In the rare scenario in which a brawler is found to be away from the controller, they are not a part of the match. They can be considered to be taunt partying, and all guidelines surrounding taunt parties apply to motionless fighters.
Step six: During Sudden Death, all taunt partiers who are taking part are forbidden from attacking.
Step seven: If someone breaks one of the above rules in their favor, leave the match immediately.
Step eight: When encountering CPU matches, matches with any of the Bad Items, or matches on tournament-illegal stages, all of the above rules, and the results of the match, are declared irrelevant.

Bad Items: If any of these ultra-powerful items are in a brawl, the match is considered to be irrelevant.
Smash Ball, Assist Trophy, Pokeball, Fan, Hammer, Golden Hammer, Bob-omb, Bumper, Cracker Launcher, Dragoon, Maxim Tomato, Heart Container, Home-run Bat, Thunder, Lip's Stick, Motion-sensing and Gooey bombs, Containers, Pitfalls, Mushrooms, Smart Bomb, Soccer Ball, Timer.
If any of you have valid reasons for putting an item onto this list or taking one off, let me know in the further discussion, and if your reasoning is valid, I shall edit this list accordingly.

Tournament-Illegal stages:

And if you try and flame me by telling me that this thread is pointless and/or too common, I don't care, so long as YOU follow these guidelines.

Bah, everyone knows the true rules of Smash Bros are:
1. No items.
2. Fox only.
3. Final Destination.

Maybe it is because I lack the killer instinct needed to play at the pure competitive level in Brawl, I can never understand the joy of removing a lot of the chaotic elements of the game. Sure, if you want to prove pure skill, go ahead, but when it comes to playing Brawl, I like to play with all the intended goodies and zany items.

Being on your last leg as a Homerun Bat spawns at your feet, or your opponent is about to shoot off their fully-charged laser only to have a Bomb-omb spawn infront of them, managing to wrestle the final blow on a Smash Ball from your opponent seconds before their attack would of hit it, ect. All fun and unpredictable outcomes to matches that those items you listed add to the fun.

What happen to the basic skill of adapting to your surroundings and modifying your style of play on the go when something unlikely happens?

The stages I also disagree with, though I can see more to the banned stages then banned items. Being Bowser on Icicle Mountain sucks pretty hard, but again I prefer rolling with the punches and dealing with what I have to.

As for the "Gang on Specials" and "Taunt Parties" go, why go out of your way to harass someone constantly using Specials if that is how they have fun while you encourage Taunt Parties, which contributes less to the game then actual fighting.

Also, why do you need to gang up on these people to prove their special spamming is bad. If it doesn't work, shouldn't it just fail from normal gameplay?

Overall, I don't agree with a lot of these rules/suggestions/ect. Just thought I'd make my opinions known and to add to any discussions that may pop up.

This game is not meant to be taken as a serious game and is meant only for fun. Therefore all rules are invalid, play however will put a smile on your face.

I see. Well, next time an opponent steals an obvious victory from you by virtue of Super Sonic final smash, I'll just look at you and say "Oh, I'd love to get angry at him with you, but that's the way he has fun, so why should i?"

I don't like it when people steal victories from me I rightly deserved, and I am amazed you people aren't fazed by the same scenario.

Why would you get angry at him? I wouldn't be, why should I? He got the Smash Ball, he managed to hit me while using his Final Smash, we both had fun playing.

It isn't "stealing victories" when they just happen to beat you. Come on, you had the chance to get the Smash Ball from him, even possibly a chance to knock it out of him. Also, while using it, he has to chase you, and you have the option of moving, jumping and dodging. It doesn't last forever (it's not like he's been stocking up rings for this event) and after it ends you have the option to run up to his face and smack him around just as his Final Smash ends.

I mean, it's a game, it's ment for fun.

^this guy knows whats going on lol. Stop being so close minded OP. Hey this fight isn't fair because an item that could have just as easily spawned near me spawned near you and you won. I'm a cry baby and i'm super good at the games fundamentals so i cant stand when nubs get the smash coin. I have a friend that likes to play items off and i tell him that he should just play fucking street fighter.
