Re-post of a thread, a forum member(Not mentioning names because I'm already used to it from Smite.) suggested I make a new thread as the previous one was filled with old responses to something else.

This thread is now asking about WarThunder. What are the pros and cons of the game, anything I need to know(Something that's OP, The grind becomes steep at tier N, that kind of stuff) and how the beta is currently going. Thanks.

Edit: May I add having to search for "Wart" every time I want google to show me the recent searches I've done is NOT an upside.

I only finished downloading it yesterday and I'm only like lv4 as the Japanese so my experiences may be somewhat limited, but what I played was really fucking fun. The later level planes seem kinda insane, I've been torn apart in seconds by a few of them, but that's made up by the fact that you only get one life per plane in a game, so if some guy starts with his best plane and destroys it early in the game, he's gotta use his shittier ones from there on until he either runs out of planes or the game ends. Another good thing is, even if you run out of planes you can quit and join another game and you'll be mailed the points you get from winning/losing when the game ends in real time, similar to BF3.

As for starter planes/veteran planes, I don't feel gimped in the ones you're given when you begin, yeah other planes are better but it's not like an FPS where stronger weapons dominate games. There's lots of skill involved in accuracy and flying capabilities; shit that isn't obtainable by just having a good plane. From what I played the exp gain seems kinda slow, but I don't really mind at the moment because I'm just having fun blowing shit up, it's not that bad when you "die" either because you're still in control to the end and can perform emergency landings with no engine or a wing missing, or just go full retard and try and take someone out with you as you plummet to the earth. People go fucking ape shit in chat when you ram them as well, so that's a bonus.

The game is free anyway, so I'd recommend downloading it and giving it a try. It's actually quite worrying just how fun the game is when you compare it to other flying games that actually cost money.

Does anyone know what kind of system requirements this game needs?

I have a HP laptop with a 2.2 Ghz i.3 processor with 6gb of ram, it comes with an integrated Radeon Graphics Card, but i don't know what its exact spec's are. For reference purposes, my laptop can play games like Medieval 2 Total War, Sims 3 and Saints Row fine, but struggles with anything more demanding than, say, Empire Total War.

It looks like a good game, reminds me a lot like IL2 Stumovik, a game i dearly miss because i can't find a way to get it to run on Windows 7.... :'(

Well I can't find anything official but the game itself seems very well optimized, or rather there isn't much on screen to tax the machine, sadly with integrated graphics you can never know what will happen, it is free however so you might as well try it out.

OT: I haven't got that many hours into this because there are other 3 multiplayers I'm trying to master.
By the looks it is set up very similarly to the other recent F2P games so expect a logarithmic unlock curve, real fast to mid range and then it gets absurdly time consuming to unlock stuff.
Feels really great to play however, with gamepad or just KB&M, there is a good deal of skill to be obtained in figuring out the turning circles, target leading, speeds, flight angles, altitudes, ... , not to mention all scenarios are objective based so it isn't just a body count grind, you can go several ways to earn your keep in matches.
Now higher tier planes are better there is no getting away from it, but at the same time that is an additional tactical skill to consider, if there is someone better armed or skilled coming your way it would be incredibly daft to engage them on your own, so you instead lure them into the midst of your team that can easily tear them down.

There is still a problem where bigger planes(mostly bombers) can just straight up ram you for an instant kill and they take near no damage, but beta is beta and they are fixing things up.
