Was Conviction too easy?

Well since I'm a PS3 scrub, I went to my friend's house to play convicition. Since I played Thief, Hitman, Metal Gear Solid, Manhunt, Tenchu, No One Lives Forever, and previous Splinter Cells, I was expecting something real gritty and suspenseful. What I got was basically a power rush.
It didn't feel like I was a super spy with more tools than Inspector Gadget, like in No One Lives Forever and Metal Gear Solid. And neither did it feel like I was going to die any second like in Manhunt and Thief. I felt like a Terminator.
It felt like Manhunt in the sense that guards are extremely talkative and firearms are overpowered and the fact that guards have REALLY bad night vision, and Tenchu and Assassin's Creed in the fact that melee attacks are one hit kills and are extremely easy to do. And maybe a dash of God of War considering how brutal and fun the interrogation sequences are.
Well it was fun, but it was just too easy for a stealth veteran like me. It doesn't feel like a stealth game anymore than Assassin' Creed 2 or an action 3rd person game like Uncharted 2. What do you think?

But then again, I took the gunblazing commando route instead of the stealthy predator, so maybe it's just me.

I'm finding it to be just right difficulty wise for me. Playing it on normal and it's challenging without being rage-inducing.

Except that level about 1/2 way through where you have to rely on stealth heavily and can't use any gadgets otherwise you're discovered. It really punishes the players that rely on the EMP pulse. Like me. But otherwise, good fun game if a little annoying at times.

I don't know. I usually don't like playing stealth game with a HUGE emphasis on gunplay, especially when you have the power to use an aimbot.

Is that the level with all the security cameras and you have to place C4 to blow out the power? If so, I'm there and I really played it more run and gun like before, and that is damn hard

Yes conviction was way too easy. In my opinion pathetically short compared to the others. Still a fun game though. But my dad even said "That was it?" when I beat the game.

I find it to be pretty difficult, only because i have a "no killing unless the game makes you" attitude. it makes it quite fun and challenging to pass a lot of the levels. (btw, I have only really been playing the co-op missions, so i have no comment on the single player).

I would say this, if you play on rookie, then you will probably find it WAAAY to easy, if you play on normal you won't have a challenge unless you go all commando, and if you play it on realistic(like I did my first time through the game) then you will have a hard time when you first start the 3rd mission(Airfield), and then after that it will be a constant learning curb(in the good way). In conclusion to this answer, I would say it is sometimes to easy. Like when there are only 4 guys in a room and they are all within distance of a "mark and execute," but it isn't easy when you have 10 guys in a small area(say the dish part of the airfield mission) and the whole area is well lit and you don't have a mark and execute stored. Oh, and you are playing on realistic.

I played on normal, and I pretty much found that if the enemies actually started shooting I'd die, particularly frustrating during the Michigan Avenue Reservoir (I think that's what it's called) mission. Fortunately, most guards never got the chance.

Most games nowadays are too easy. Start on a harder difficulty, then it'll feel more challenging.

I haven't really noticed much gun-play, really except in the final co-op mission which I'll detail after this. And they have gimped the aiming system so you can't Rambo your way out. I'm finding it's easier to run and hide then shoot my way, mainly because the gun-play is made so you miss if you fire a few shots in quick succession. Unless you use the AK with a scope. Then it becomes easy.

My main problem with the game, amongst a few niggles (A.I tends to look up a lot, they seem to see you through walls on rare occasions, the cover system and jumping out to KO people sometimes cocks up leaving you to be shot to hell, that mission based in Iraq) is with the final co-op level and its shoot-out where you actually have to shoot your way out.

Whoever decided it was a good idea to make you run from one end of a map to the other, while being shot at by angry terrorists and a turret that can see through bloody walls, disable that turret via an EMP then run back past all those heavily armed terrorists whose gear and lights are somehow unaffected by the massive EMP blast you let off onto a plane which has about 20 guards between you and it and no way to stealth your way out, forcing you into a shot out. I failed that mission 5 times on bloody Rookie difficulty! That level just sucks, due to the forced gun-play and the fact the enemy seems to hit you every time!

...I may have gone slightly away from the point somewhere.

Really? The gun play is super easy, almost pathetically easy. But then again, I played nearly all my shooter games on the hardest difficulty, and beaten them, so it probably has to do with my skill...

Maybe.
I think it may be also I'm used to playing shooters like Halo, CoD, Fallout 3 and Borderlands which are radically different to SC:C.
Or maybe I suck. *Shrugs*
