Off the top of my head not watching Dragon ball in around 12 year. Krillin fell in love with a robot. Vegeta let Cell reach a power enough to destroy the universe. Trunks refused to save the day because he didn't want to hurt his fathers pride. Piccolo dumped a 4 year old in the middle of no where so he could train. Bulma was a slut and gohan was only inspired to fight after someone died.

Everyone on DragonBall was retarded! But it was fucken awesome show. You check your brain in at the door and just enjoy... then find out on the next exciting installment what will happen next
"On the next Dragonball Z, thirty solid minutes of Frieza standing there "powering up" while Vegeta's eye-piece energy reader dramatically cracks, and he claims he's 'never felt power like this before!'"
as they stand around saying "ahh ahh ahhhh *How did his power get so high* ahhh ahhh ahhhhh" And there eyes twitch

If Goku is retarded, then I'll bet at least 1/3 of all anime characters are equally retarded.

A better question is: was Bulma a whore?
Um, Bulma? Not really sure, but surely a more likely choice for Dragonball Whore would be Ranfan. She uses stripping as a tactic to win fights, for Offler's sake...

Anyway, regarding the possibility of Goku being mentally retarded? I don't think so. After all, if every character in fiction of any kind, not just anime and manga, who made bad choices like Goku does was labelled retarded, then we'd have absolutely no decent storylines for anything anymore because the heroes would always make the right choices and win easily, and besides, most fictional characters do tend to act the same way. Making bad decisions is all part of being human. And yes, I know Goku is a Saiyan. Even so...

From what I heard of the Dragonball series (when Goku was a kid), yes...

Ah, reminds me of an old joke I once heard.

Q: How many Dragon Ball Z characters does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: Just one, but it'll take him nine episodes to do it.

Goku was more simple then retarded. Naive is another word.

I would be worried about Roshi though... as much as awesome that man is... he was one of the biggest perverts ever.

I'll accept any attempt to rationalize that movie away.
it's Indiana Jones, you don't do that kind of things when he's around

on a side note, would anybody care to explain to me all the hate about this movie? I still don't know why people keep saying that George raped Indiana Jones for that movie, I really don't

I mean, I loved it, I honestly thought that they could've removed Shia LeButtfuck, but I still loved that movie nonetheless

No. He was just never raised properly.

Goku is actually fairly intelligent. It's just that he never really visited the real world and knew how it worked. If we go look at Tarzan for example, for all we know, he could very well have an IQ of 120 or above. When you go for a very long period of your childhood without any proper education or learning, it gets harder to absorb knowledge later on no matter what. Stop and think about the fact that Bulma was the first girl Goku ever met for a moment. A kid like him can find almost anything fascinating without being unintelligent. He was never taught logic or culture.

On the other hand he shows significant skills in several areas, including fighting and fighting techniques, hunting, formulating strategies and tactics, tricking his opponents, understanding his environement, and he is pretty good at communicating with other intelligent creatures (ignoring the fact that he doesn't have any manners and tact). All of these things wouldn't be possible for a being of lower intelligence, so in short: No, he is not a retard.

I think around 80% of old men in animes are perverts.

It's quite possible that he sustained permanent brain damage. However, it's never clear what the full extent of his childhood injuries are.
I would consider agreeing with you, since he does seem to be fairly brainless when he makes decisions, but the fact of the matter is he was like that long before he sustained the head injury. He's just a happy-go-lucky monkey man who operates on a very basic thought process.

How about this one I'm sure you've all heard...

Q: How many Dragon Ball Z characters does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: OVER 9000!!!

EDIT: Also, I believe that Goku grew up innocent because his granpa Gohan always kept him away from the outside world and didn't seem to teach him anything except fighting.

I can see where you'd get that, but personally I think he's more dense than dumb. He can be very clever in battle and such but in things that aren't his arena he's clueless. Plus, even if you'd go to say this denseness was caused by brain damage there's the fact that he reverts to angry alien mode at a point, so that part of him wasn't destroyed, just lost somehow.
