When franchises become popular their frame-works are often used to produce games in a different genre. Examples are Halo Wars (FPS-RTS), WoW (RTS-MMO) and most bizarrely FFX-2 (JRPG-The fu..?).

If you could produce any genre-crossover what would you make?
Any ones you thought were a good idea?

Good ideas in my opinion would probably be a Fallout MMO (already rumored), Folklore Cardgame and a God of War dating sim.

I still haven't played it so I can't really say. Perhaps not, it doesn't seem to be that popular. I mean is it ever a good idea to make a different genre spin-off just to milk sales from an already popular franchise?

Oh and it's not because of those RTS elitist faggots going "Halo wars sucks its so cheap and bland when compared to our favorite RTSs!!!"

Halo Wars is alright, though they could have added a some extra features. Assassin's Creed II in a first person format could work well. Thief did.

GTA-MMO, I'm pretty sure there's something like that in the works, but I don't know if it'll be any good.

Were it on a PC, it would've been just fine. On an XBOX, where it has to consistently cram controls in, well, it failed because of it. I'll be damned if it wasn't fun though.

Ass Creed would be cool in first person, a cross between thief and mirrors edge.

So no, it wasn't.
Very much that which is explained above and the fact that they made a RTS for FPS fans. RTS and FPS do not go hand in hand, in fact they are on opposite sides of the spectrum.

If GTA keeps on it's current track, then it will quickly be surpassed. Take a look at the upcoming Just Cause 2 and tell me you don't want Niko to be able to do half the things Rico performs.

Also Final Fantasy has crossed into a large number of Genres. From RPG to TBS to FPS/3rdPS and so forth. For the most part it is franchise milking, but it does save the trouble of actually establishing a more original setting.

Yep, I'm looking forward to Just cause 2, and crackdown 2 looks to fix the main problems I had with the first, and AC3 could just be epic.

Halo Wars was mainly just to show that you can make a RTS on a console and not suck. It wasn't absolutely perfect but it was better than good. As long as it wasn't a port from the PC, an RTS could be great on console.

In retrospect, probably not.

Then again, playing an RTS on a console is always bound to fail.

You 360-owners try playing Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3, and compare it to the PC version.

I rest my case.
