I think you could have, and should have, turned around and shot the Smoker instead. However, as it's been said, desperate times call for desperate measures. You've got zombies all up in your ass. So I can't really blame you for tossing the Molotov.

Your not a dick for it, you where a little mean with the Molotov, but it was understandable. The other guy was downed at an impossible spot to reach, he would have just slowed the team down.
I don't see why they didn't just wait inside the safe area for the guy to get incapped, though if he was in molotov distance, i don't see why someone couldn't have shot the smoker's tounge, even from the safe room.Cajt said:

Sounds like he was a whiner. You didn't say what kind of shape the rest of the team was in, but if you were on advanced/expert and the guy was at less than 50% with no health pack, it's the best way to conserve health. Plus, it's just not always possible to get everyone into the saferoom...especially after you molotov them...
You could have freed him, if you can hit him with a molotov. You got everything you deserved from that.
No it's fair. You killed him probaly so they don't get the points(at least thats how i thik it works, correct me if i'm wrong), you killed the smoker, couldn't reach him with a 100% chance of getting him and everyone else out ok and you don't know what other types of infected are lurking around waiting for you to make the mistake of a rescue.
Fair and kudos for judging the situation as a person with the end justifies the means attitude. I'm sick of the people who when i'm down/or someone else, go "oh we must save him!" i'll respawn and if i don't i can at least distract/hold off some of the horde. Anyone else i judge as capable as me because i suck. If i can kill something i hope you can
