I understood it quite well... atleast I hope I did, be kind of embarissing if I have the whole thing backwards...

I had no problem with it at all like most people here. There is one thing that was odd though, Cobb's totem, his totem only keeps spinning in his own dreams or in limbo, making it completely useless to tell wether you're in reality or someone elses dream is it does stop spinning.
The totem falling or spinning doesn't really give you an answer. The point of the totems is to let you know whether you're in somebody else's dream. If Cobb is stuck within his own dream, the dimension we viewers believe to be reality might be his dream and if the totem fell, it could still mean he's stuck within his own dream. So others might be right, there might be no way to escape limbo once stuck there, which is where Cobb might be residing in the end of the movie.ToTaL LoLiGe said:
The important thing is that it's irrelevant. The scene is simply supposed to plant the idea in us that it might be a dream, but Cobb doesn't care, since all he cares for is that he's with his kids again.
it's not complicated, but it's tightly written. as long as you pay attention you should be fine.

You know what I love about these threads? The intellectual masturbation that comes with them. Not going to accuse anyone of it here, but that's what I find most "Is Inception really complicated???" threads end up being.
No it wasn't. Nolan specializes in making good mainstream Hollywood movies with the slightest semblance of depth so that edgy teenagers and people who think they are smart and "get film" can brag about how "DEEP IT WAS MAN" and "HOW I TOTALLY GOT IT MAN" to their friends, family, and various strangers on the internet.
Not complex as in clever, complex as in retarded, I loved the movie but at times it seemed just kind of too dumb, it's more the complex "can't see the forest for all the trees" type.
I'm just wondering if he was dreaming in the end or not, there's a difference between complex and not explaining.

it wasn't that I didn't "get it", I just didn't care. it wasn't "deep", ir was over-complicated for the sake of looking clever.
I thought it was a pretty mediocre film overall. I didn't care about the characters, the action, score, and special effects were pretty good, but it wasn't this big clever clusterbomb of amazing that everyone says it was.
This is just me, but it looked like everyone who said that Inception was "SOOOO DEEP" and that anyone who didn't like it just "didn't understand it" was just trying in vain to make themselves look smart. like how people will praise a crappy painting as "wonderful art" and anyone who calls them out on it is "uncultured".
bottom line, Inception was pretty simple, but it kept trying to make itself look complicated to get points from people who want to look smart. this is just my opinion, if you liked it, fine, but please don't tell me that it went over my head because I don't think Inception is an amazing movie. as a movie, it's just kinda "meh". Toy Story 3 was far better, as far as entertainment vlue, overall themes, and emotional investment in the story and characterss goes.

Here's something to realize. He did something rather stupid partway through the movie: He explained how the mini-top worked to someone. The architect. I liked the movie a lot, and I had a little bit of trouble understanding it the first time, but after the second viewing, I understood it all but the 4 different dreams happening at once.Still have a little trouble with that.
It was an easy film to understand if you're actually paying attention. Still, if you're one of those people who were actually excited to watch Fast Five and Dark Of The Moon (Like those people Moviebob is always railing against) Then you might find it hard to understand.
Inception was 'trying' to mindfuck and if you don't pay attention you might get mindfucked. For some real mind dicking watch Momento.

Haven't heard of Un Chien Andalou, so I can't say much about that. Might look into it.
I like stories dense in new concepts and ideas even if they are clear as day like Blade Runner, The Fight Club, Ghost in the Shell or Reservoir Dogs, or amazing character construction like City Lights, Wall-e, the Godfather. Don't care about that interpretations stuff so Lynch or stuff like Zhang Yang's doesnt touch me deeply.

The movie was about as deep as a fishbowl.
Which is deeper than most movies, I guess, but once you've seen it there's not much else to it.
My real problem with the movie was that the characters were emotionless hucks of clay. But that's the same with every Chris Nolan movie.
