My mom was confused by it. But she gets confused by a lot of movies. Every time, I have to explain everything afterward. Doesn't help that she tends to fall asleep in the middle of the movie. She didn't fall asleep during this one, but that just makes me roll my eyes even harder.

It wasn't hard to understand but at the same time it was a movie that needs to be watched again. I loved it and it was still one of my favorite movies of 2010.

Even Memento is not so bad if you have been watching from the start, doesn't take long before you get whats up.

Now someone will say the same about Shutter Island I guess, but I was sort of confused as to what happened in the end there.

I understood it just fine. The thing that no one has answered for me yet is why the fuck does everyone have blue eyes except for two people?(out of the main characters). That bothered me for some reason the entire movie.....The rest of the people I watched it with didn't understand it at all and I wound up having to explain it.

I thought it was really straightforward and easy to follow.

I've been told that it's confusing because people tried to wonder whether or not the events in the movie where actually possible.

I always assumed that people consider anything "open-ended" to be confusing. I've had people tell me they thought Donnie Darko was confusing. I thought they were kidding.

I agree, Inception isn't hard to understand, but what exactly is there not to understand about Memento?
It's pretty straight forward. I was 12 when I first saw the movie, and there wasn't a thing I missed or did not understand, and I'm far from the intellectual type.

No, it wasn't. And i wish people would just stop saying it is. Eraserhead was hard to understand. The Holy Mountain was hard to understand. Naked Lunch was hard to understand. Inception was just open ended, quite obviously to build up for a sequel.

I'm pretty sure there are much, much, MUCH more complicated movies than Inception, hell it wasn't anymore complicated than any other movie I've watched... Unless I missed something?

The story is a convoluted and cliched mess. If you accept the premise then you'll be able to follow along fine and have fun, if you don't, every other plot point will throw you for a loop.

Stop bandying the word deep around like it means something, it's however you define it.

It doesn't matter how silly the plot was anyway, the movie was just dressing for that scene in the spinning corridor. I'd watch the movie again just to see that. Nolan's a pretty plain writer, but fuck he knows how to shoot a film.

I was able to follow it alright.

The only real confusing thing Inception did was introduce and talk about ideas that it hadn't properly explained yet, but if you watch the film for a second time and you are already familiar with the concepts it is quite easy to follow.

Don't get me wrong, I think Inception was a fairly decent film, I just think it is more confusing in reputation than in reality.

I wont take offense, since your spelling is terrible and even though that says shit all about you it does make you come off as a little dull.

On topic, well, it was kinda straight forward stuff until the last half hour where I started struggling. Following like 4 levels of dream and 3 groups of characters at once isnt something you can do with ease.
well the few errors he made were more typos than actual spelling mistakes, not much of a problem.

and personally i followed it with ease. it was clever, but still pretty simple. you knew who was in what dream, and so long as you payed attention to the dream levels, you knew how time was progressing in that dream compared to the others.

The problem with inception is that it keeps breaking it's own rules with no explanation as to why or how the world works.
Other than that it's pretty straight forward.

It was simple, the 'difficulty' was nothing more than a bullshit marketing ploy, everyone leaves the movie thinking how awesome they are because they managed to keep track with the film, this included more than a few critics. It was not difficult to follow. It was an incredibly simple thing.

Someone I know was all awe inspired when she worked out recently that the song playing is slowed down at lower levels. I always thought that was completely freaking obvious, apparently not.

Anyway, no. It was well done and quite clever at times (the song thing was obvious but still reasonably smart) but as long as you pay attention it's not difficult to follow at all.

not hard to understand, but once I say I didn't like the movie, someone always assumes that I am stupid and can't use my brain, inception fanboys talk like they achieved something by watching the movie

I think the Escapist attracts a higher calibre of thinking. The general public might have been confused though :p
