Great news that they made $2.1 million from this. With Chris & Obsidian on board I feel something very special may be on the cards here. I on the fence as to whether to up my pledge even more to help them get to their next milestone of $2.5 million, but I can't decide.

Awesome, between MS canceling that unannounced project and THQ cratering it's great to hear some good news concerning Obsidian. The fact that they're working on a new Wasteland is icing on the cake.

God you guys are still slow. They posted this news days ago. Chris Avellone said this on his twitter on the 6th.

I could see this kickstarter thing getting abused, but right now it is awesome

E.g. "for ten million dollars, EA will name the main character after you!"
Why would a multi-million dollar corporation accept donations to fund a project?

Kickstarter existed for years before this whole hubub started, and it's mostly done to fund charity projects and stuff like that. The thought that EA would simply auction off something like that is just silly.

Is it silly? Is it? IS IT?....... is it?
Im sure shit like this goes on somewhere behind the scenes. Take for example, the fact that Adam Jensen looks exactly like one of the developers, I mean identical.
Someone say Devil May Cry? :3

Odd that they aren't putting Avellone on writing. That's what he's best at (and by best, I mean damn near industry best). It's great to see a game like this come fruition. Between this and Shadowrun...oh my god...Kickstarter is my new best friend.

Now if only they'll hire some testers...

Thats when it will be a day 1 for me
Donate $55 and you'll get on the beta, amongst other things.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/inxile/wasteland-2
maybe now we'll have a game not bugged to hell and back.
They already have one. It's called Dungeon Siege 3.

Yeah. Considering just how much people are donating (seriously, Gamers are awesome folk) hopefully we can enjoy Obsidian-level writing without fearing that the game will spontaneously combust at any moment.

EDIT: Sorry! I misinterpreted your post. I actually fully agree with you. Bethesda have just as bad, if not worse, bug testing than Obsidian.

Please god do NOT let Obsidian do the bug testing for this game, the UTTER mess that was New Vegas is proof enough that they should stick to what they are good at, story, and leave the level design and bug testing to someone that doesnt have their heads so far up their asses that they could miss a goddamn cowboy hat bug.....
