That Creation Engine... just some tweaks to the Gamebryo Engine, isn't it? Still gonna be buggy as all fuck. Ahh, Bethesda never fails to dissapoint me and yet enthrall me with their games at the same time.

Hehe, now I'm not feeling so bad that I decided to wait a few months until after the game is out to get it.
The Creation engine is a completely new engine made in house by Bethesda. It has nothing to do with the Gamebryo engine. Though that doesn't mean it will be bug free... at least there is more of a chance for the game to be stable then if they were to hammer out another game in that god awful engine.

Things which bug me about this:
1.Oh look, it's that same 20 minutes of footage that has been reposted about 4 times.

2. Why do the npc's not react AT ALL to being stabbed and slashed? In a game that emphasizes melee combat you really can not get away with half-assing it like that. Look at games like Condemned that made melee fighting feel brutal and realistic, is there any reason why the combat in this game looks like it's being handled in the same way that melee in a fps is?

I'm really impressed, Oblivion, F03 and NV all had horrible 3rd person walking animations. Almost like your dude was floating 2 inches above the landscape and just pretending to walk.

The animations in this look like something Rockstar would make, so color me exited :D

Look like they at least learnt from Fallout 3 how to do combat a bit more and magic finally looks decent.

My best guess is that Condemned was so very focused around that melee gameplay, they wanted to make it feel absolutely authentic and real.

In Skyrim, you can use bows, magic, swords, your fists, whatever. So I'm simply assuming that being able to incorporate the physics and weighty feel that the melee in condemned had would bleed into the other methods you have of fighting, and make those feel stupid or out of place.

And I can't wait for this game. A lot of people say that gameplay, menu interface, whatever would make them wait for this game, but the thing that sold me most on Oblivion was the sheer scale of it all. You get this awesome feeling that you really are in a completely separate world, rather than just a video game, and that feeling seems to be emanating from every rock, tree, and bush in Skyrim.

The music at the end just made me thing of this video again.

OT:The melee still looks awkward to me, although being able to duel wield is nice. I think the problem i will face is the magic looks like a big part of it and i never used magic in the past elder scrolls.

Well played good sir; Always good to throw in a little Harry Partridge; especially here. And don't worry about the magic bit. They were just showing off everything you could do because it was a gameplay demo. You shall play how you shall play. I doubt I'll even touch a melee weapon until I'm out of ammo for some inexplicable reason. Because picking enemies off from the shadows is unbelievably satisfying. :p

The Skill Menu is beautiful, and so perfectly in line with the TES lore... A very, very nice move. The Map also looks good, but we could only see that for a moment. Let's hope we can put more than one marker on it.

I'm on the fence about the Item and Magic Menus. I'll decide when I play it. The individual hand activation, however, did please me quite a bit.

I had no interest in Skyrim, but after this, and then watching some trailers, I'm actually excited. It does look like it will feel like Fallout 3, which was amazing! And I was looking for a fantasy game that has combat thats actually fun to play, unlike Dragon Age: Origins. Kinda fun, this just looks alot more fun.

SOOOO excited for Skyrim!

3 things:

1: Spells: they seem more visceral in Skyrim. Love that! However, will they actually LOOK more powerful the higher your skill is. In Oblivion, a 5 damage pt fire spell looked (that lame little fireball) exactly the same as mastery level 100 dp fire spell. Hope this changes in Skyrim (novice spells look and FEEL weaker than mastery ones)

2: 3rd person finishing moves: not sure if the player manually switched veiws but I thought the ones in the demo looked kinda clunky. The first person one's were cool, and I know you can play in 3rd person, I just hope the camera doesn't switch for you on certain moves.

3: Dragon labels: this is very small, but I hope when fighting various types of dragons (frost dragon or black dragon) the HUD lists the type of dragon next to its health bar instead of just "dragon" like in the demo. Not a big deal I just think it would make the more menacing dragons seem cooler when you encounter one and it says "ANCIENT RAPE DRAGON" insteadof just "DRAGON." Not a big deal though.

Still can't wait!
