Watch Dogs' Aiden Pearce Wreaks Havoc in Launch Trailer

Watch Dogs' launch trailer stresses that Aiden can be brutal.

Watch Dogs is Ubisoft's upcoming big game, and all of the trailers have shown that Aiden isn't a squeaky-clean hero. The game's launch trailer is live a few days ahead of the game's release.

Players control Aiden Pearce, a hacker who's hunting the people who hurt his family, in part due to Aiden's criminal past. There's a lot of reckless driving and gun shooting, but a large part of Watch Dogs is the element of hacking. The player can hack the central operating system of Chicago to control traffic lights and public transportation as well as access security cameras and residents' personal information. That's a lot of power for one person, and Aiden is more than willing to dirty his hands for his goal.

Aiden's out for revenge. With the amount of traffic accidents in Chicago, who knows how many residents removed from Aiden's situation are dragged into chaos? You can manipulate the network to access people's personal information as well as their finances in order to fund Aiden's quest to take down his personal enemies. The Chicago of Watch Dogs does not seem like the ideal place to live.

Watch Dogs launches May 27 for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC. A Wii U version will be available at an unspecified date later this year.

Well, that trailer left me un-impressed.

I am annoyed at the current trend in AAA to make trailers grandiose and frenetic: the original e3 demo drew me in because it was slow and subtle, whereas this...

This just confirms that unless the game surpasses my expectations(as in, there is way more stuff than what is shown in the trailer), then I would be disappointed by it.

I wish sources would stop calling Aiden a "hacker," and I hate how impressed with himself he is in all the trailers. The dude basically gets handed a magic cellphone and does stuff with it. Not exactly a lot of skill involved there.

I was going to buy a PS4 on release, then no good games came out so I thought I'l wait for a bit. Then I was going to buy one for Infamous then that was not really worth it. If Watchdogs doesn't impress there's really no reason to go next gen until Christmas.

Fingers crossed

I don't mean to sound cynical (I lie i really do). But none of the sources for those quotes are either big sites or known for balanced reactions (I'm looking at you IGN)I'm kind of getting worried about the game which is kind of concerning seeing as i pre-oredered. I'll admit I'm considering cancelling.

I'll probably finally end up getting that PS3 this holiday, and delve into a few Sony titles that I've been missing. In addition to using it to play the games that I own for the 360 online, because I really can't be bothered to re-up on XBOX Live.

I love how most of them were one word adjectives as well: "remarkable," "incredible." What? No "breathtaking?" The cynic is me couldn't help but think the rest of those quotes went something like:

"There is nothing remarkable about this game,"

Or

"It's incredible to think that we get a product with such glaring flaws, even after the release was delayed."

Ah, you guys are such pessimists. I for one still believe in Watch Dogs. Now don´t get me wrong, the game might not be all that it promised, but let´s be frank - what in the world is? As long as the game is fun, I can get past that the Graphics are somewhat inferior to the E3 version.
