Is anyone else seriously offended by Ubisoft's presumption that Watch_Dogs is going to be THE NEXT BIG THING? The game isn't even -out- yet and there are already confirmed sequels and a movie. All for a game that boils down to walking around triggering cutscenes.
Sure it might be good but Ubisoft seems to think that gamers are so predictable they'll jump on this based purely on some pre-rendered cutscenes. Plus, PC users, look forward to this being on Uplay. It just really annoys me that they think this is all the effort they need to go to for us to spend the $60 (not including the DLC that has been announced) on their game.

I'm getting less and less interested in this game with every new trailer. They've been over-hyping it too much. I was excited when I knew almost nothing about it. But they keep showing news about it in my face and I'm starting to feel like I already played the entire game. The same is happening with AC4. Just stop with the advertizing for fuck sake. It's too much. Leave something to the imagination. They tell you about every single thing that you can do in these games. So you don't get to discover anything once the game is out.

Well, looks like my Anti Hype Prevention systems are working still. I really ain't been keeping up with game trailers recently, I don't even feel like trying. Dying Light looks good but I only watched that on a friend's insistence and I have not seen a WD trailer in ages.

I just roll with "i'll buy it if the reviews are good and/or it goes on sale." The only thing i've even been a little bit excited for is Saints Row 4. I have it downloading in the background. Before it's released... Oh Steam, I will never understand you.

I worked on a full Shounen anime protagonist for president last night in the creator. Even put the voice pitch up ever so slightly higher for the full angsty teen saves the world touch.

I went with the old classic touch of a skinny lanky fuck wearing spiked jackets, stylish jeans and impossible red hair. 'Merica, introducing your best president ever. New Friendship policies incoming.

Now to make a female version :D

I'm not trying to make a point about hype, more about all of the future plans made for a series that none of us have actually even played yet. Ubisoft already know we're going to buy their game apparently. How? What possible reason do we have to purchase a game we know nothing about from a hands-on gameplay perspective? As a gamer, I'm sick of being a foregone conclusion.

I'm more interested in the interactive map they did of London than the actual game, I doubt I'm going to actually play it. It seems like a really cool idea but I can't see how the game is going to be remotely challenging, more likely it's just button pressing & cutscenes.

Not offened, but amused. It's like they never heard of Kingdoms of Amalur. They think that by throwing enough advertising at our faces they can guarantee that we'll buy it. I'm looking forward to them explaining it not meeting the impossible goals they set for themselves. Unless the game actually turns out to be good and successful. I'm fine with both options.

I know how you feel. I learned in the past that once a game seems interesting to me, I should stop reading/watching anything about it until I played through it. Ubisoft just have to oversell every game that they make for some reason.

Honestly yeah, I don't think I'll buy it. The first gameplay trailer from e3 looked interesting but the more I see, the more it looks like another cover based 3rd person adventure shooter kinda like Ass Creed but with guns. And the Last of Us was already the best game ever in that genre so I'm good on that for a while

Ever since I saw a web comic depicting Mass Effect if Shepard was more JRPG-like I have been craving this kind of out of place genre mash up in every vidya gam. I may need play Saints Row 3 seeing as its free on ps+ right now

I thought it looked cool until he pulled out a pistol and started straight up shooting squads of enemies in slo-mo. Although it's not like I didn't already know they would do that, but a man can dream can't he?

So noone has any issues with essentially being told what "Big Title" they have to like next gen? Nothing wrong with this picture at all.

And yet you said this...

I'm already aware that my ideas of "good game" do not match up with AAA standards, and I don't see many game ads. So I'm utterly unaffected by your horror-scenario. However, this forum is littered with people taking their own partially-formed assumptions as some sort of gospel to base arguments off of, which is much more in-my-face and irritating.

The point I'm making is that we haven't seen enough of the game to even make any informed opinions about it, yet there's so much already planned for it's future. Ubisoft expects us to eat this up - hence the already planned movie/sequels. They already know that they'll sell enough to fund the aforementioned Watch_Dogs related content. How are we apparently this predictable, and if not, how are we letting them get away with this?

Personally I am really hyped for it. I have no relation to the promise of sequels and a movie, as long as this game is good. Which I hope and believe it will be.

Who cares?

If the game is good, then it'll do good, and they're justified. If it's not, the after-party will die naturally. Maybe... just MAYBE... they have a lot of faith in the game being really good.

Also, we haven't seen enough of the game to even make any informed opinions about it, yet you've already excused it as a game that boils down to "walk around triggering cutscenes". That's not hypocritical at all.

Just out of question, is there a way to make a Ragna coat in that game because I would love to run around the city as Ragna fighting aliens.

on topic, Yeah, it will be best to wait before we get excited. Assassin's creed has taught us that much

Ubisoft think they have a good game on their hands and they expect it to sell well.

No, I don't see anything wrong with that picture and I'm not sure why you're sore about it.

While I'm not personally all that interested (I find open world games boring), the reactions to the trailers and gameplay previews have been overwhelmingly positive. I expect the game will sell well.

I couldn't care less about sequels and promised movies, and neither should you. I'll wait for the game to come out, and if it gets good reviews and looks fun, I'll buy it.

I believe so, with some wishful thinking. You definitely have the hair and coat colour because they give you every colour shade under the sun. There are various trenchcoats and spike coats and gimp suits so you could get one that fits at least half well.

I would go for a Noel look, honestly. I mean the highly questionable female "uniform" is a bit weird but I could make do. I would go for a Mu-12 look but really now, not even the "design everything" mentality the SR devs have going can prepare them for full ArcSys clothing logic.

Why would you be offended by that...
I just find it odd, then again boobiesoft did say they aren't interested in anything other then guaranteed franchises from here on in so I guess they will just bulldoze that into existence.

Generally that does not bode well for the actual products because the focus falls from making one great thing to forcing several out the door.
