"Finally, a trailer," followed by "It's looking pretty sweet (I recognized every scene from the comics, so they seem to be following it pretty closely. Go David Hayter's translation of the comic to film!)"

I'm skeptical, but the trailer certainly captures the mood and I'm suprised just how much of the comic appears to have made it into film.

I also like how its

"Watchmen" like its supposed to be not "The Watchmen" like people think it is.

I think the appropriate term for my reaction would be "Nerd Squeeee!"
It looks, well, fantastic. Like Gibbon's artwork come to life.

All I can say is I will be camping outside my local theater about three weeks before this comes out and I will shoot anyone who tries and takes my spot.

But I am the Root of All Evil, don't you think I might have done that on purpose? :)

Sorry...I'm overflowing with raw evil passion now. Finally we get to see it!

I'm happy about Rorschach mask. The "face" moves like it's supposed to. Also, looks nice, maybe a little shiny, but nice. Dr. Manhattan looks good, even when he's being torn apart.

Trying to keep the hype in check, though. Don't want to be disappointed, even though I am going to see it the moment it comes out. Fingers crossed that it manages to be even half as good as the novel.

I agree on the Rorscarch mask. Personally i thought Night Owl looked about right too.

Yes!

Actually, I just picked up Watchmen from the library and am reading it for the first time. I didn't know they were making it into a movie... cool coincidence, I guess. I just hope they don't ruin it - it has so much potential.

Darn, I can't stream video on this connection. Does anybody know for sure if this trailer is playing with the Dark Knight?

Yes it is. It has a little more, I believe though. Just some pictures from the novel, if I'm not mistaken, so nothing too terribly important.

I'm excited and scared. The trailer looked good, but trailers are supposed to. I suppose what scares me the most is that a 12 issue story can't be turned into a theatrical release without condensing or simplifying. A 12 hour miniseries would have been a better bet. First, that would give the director more time to develop all the elements of the story. Second, an episodic format would give a chance to work in the extra material at the end of each issue (Under The Hood and such.)

Bottom line - I'm going to see the movie anyway and I'll try as well as I can to judge it as it's own entity. Even if the movie's a complete pile of dung, I still have my Watchmen comics and no movie producer can take them away from me.

...and my Comedian button that I got when Watchmen was new. I can proudly wear it to say, "I was there! I saw them first!" If you would have asked me 20 years ago if I could have gotten any cool and/or snob points off of Watchmen, I would have laughed.

That's where you're wrong, my friend. You see, when you go to see it, the director and producer are going to go send agents to your home to find any Watchmen memorabilia you have and they are going to steal it.

I've never read the comic, but this should be good. I know a little bit about them already so I won't exactly be in the dark.
