Don't most bottles have the caps that leave that small ring just below where you remove the cap so the contamination of plastic is still there anyway?...

This is OUR FUCKING HOME and when we finally start trying to fucking keep it nice, safe, healthy and clean they go dump the recyclables in FUCKING INDIA!
And for what?!
Is it fucking cheaper?!

THAT RIGHT THERE is why I think government should have control of business, corporations etc.
Key words...

...Daily Express.

I don't use water bottles.
They cost too much, when I can just buy a washable cup with a lid and fill it with water from a sink or water fountain. :)

Ah... so they do just throw them away... what a waste...
What if we like baby seals getting brutally clubbed?
...
Nevermind, I'll just take the caps off...
I really don't mind it helps control the population and is part of a culture.

Are you trying to imply that the daily express is not a legitimate news source?

OT:
Thanks, I'll remember this. Skobvs raises a good point though, I for one will also be removing the small rings around bottles just to be safe.

I don't do any clubbing myself. Not really into that sort of thing. For a start, I'd need a bludgeon...
I wonder if clubbing happens in clubs...
...
I shall one day make it so! It will help control the populations of this country, and become part of the culture! Club a chav!

it happens on ice shelves where baby seals chill while the parents go hunting for food. Since they banned the activity for everyone except Inuits there has been an increasing population problem...and baby seals make great boots...just sayin.

Well it is the Daily Express. Not exactly reliable.

And that was the old Government.

"Monday September 8,2008"

Trust me. The Lib-Dem enviroment minister will sort it out.
The same way I think a Fascist government would take care of all our problems eh?
He's my MP so if he doesn't its my fault he's in power :)

OT: I reuse squash bottles constantly by just filling them up with squash/water and sticking them in the fridge. Normally have about 3 chilling at once. With the tops sometimes I leave them on, other times I don't depending on my mood/whether theres a top on it.

I'm sure it differs from place to place how and what they process.
You can easily shred the bottles, cap on or off, and then recycle them.

In fact, I saw no reason for the cap to matter at all, so I checked and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plastic_recycling .

"To obtain the pure PET, the recycled items, such as plastic bottles and containers(the main use for PET), are first inspected for any non PET materials[4]. These materials are then removed and the PET items are sorted into different color fractions, cleaned, and prepared for processing"

Cap's do not matter, urban legend...

Actually it probably is. It probably costs them less to pay any possible fines for dumping the waste than it does to actually put the resources into recycling it.

That's pretty stupid that they just throw them away. My sister's middle school collects bottle caps and recycles them somehow. I don't understand why a company can't do that.

Thanks for the heads up. We have to sort our rubbish (papers, bottles, glass etc) and crush the bottles to get them into the ridiculously small sized boxes that the council gave us. In order to crush them you need to take the tops off :)

tl;dr

Thanks for the heads up.
