Lately I've been feeling very down (due to girl troubles and exam result worries) and I am also bored of what I currently do to take my mind off things and I want to try something new so maybe it will take my mind off my troubles more effectively then what I currently do

So I am wondering if any fellow Escapist members have any activities, music, sites, films, games or anything that would be good at taking my mind off things.

EDIT: Also I do not want this thread to turn into a "my problems" thread so can we avoid discussion about that

Thanks in advance

EDIT V2: I play guitar, tuba and sing. I am not much of a writer and if it's add to the thread I am 17 and an atheist. If any more information is needed then you are creepy, I will happily give

Final EDIT: This thread is not about cheering me up specifically but just ways you cheer yourself up

I can't really speak for everyone, but something that usually cheers me up is writing something, be it story, comedy routine, whatever. I don't know you're skills as a writer, but there we are.

I'm not easily depressed, even when talking about a depressing subject, so the things I do are more for my own enjoyment then lifting my spirits.

However, one time I was really sad about something so I went outside and hugged my horse.

I also pray.

Or write, draw, or read funny manga online. I spend most of waking hours at the computer. >.>

Completely forgot about that song, I think I might make that my alarm and if I play it enough it will cheer me up

Being a burly chested man keeps me from ever being down, depressed, sad, or showing any other emotion besides anger and bliss.

I need someone to cheer me up...
That's why I'm heading to the IRC. I'll get people there to stroke my ego.

Ego stroking is nice.

A brand new game always cheers me up. Can't beat that new game smell when you open the box. *Sniff* Ah...wonderful.

I also play my guitar to take my mind off things.

Another thing you can do is to watch this

Okay that video was pretty good, I might just make a collection of these things and watch them every day to cheer me up

You are depressed from girl troubles. Get a new girl. Even just a quick lay. Problems over. NEXT!

Edit: This does not cure depression but is more a way to kill time. I paint (mainly Warhammer) I get started and next thing I know 8 hours have passed and its time to go to bed.
I am a bit broke at the moment too, I need to save up money for unniversity and starting war hammer may not be a good idea but thanks for the suggestion

Sign up, post on the forums, and the- wait...we're on that site aren't we?

In that case I suggest you play some Elder Scrolls: Oblivion.

Well, personally if I feel down (like I do often) I just go read or something. Go out with some friends or bring them round to your house and play a silly wii game or something. soon enough you'll all be majorly irritated at losing to the computer and rolling around in laughter at eachothers failed attempts at pro gaming on the wii. All in the name of good fun!
And girl troubles are not all that bad. If you broke up become friends, not gf's or anything again though. Ya gots ta fix your broken links before ya move on.
