What a bunch of idiots, whatever happened to everyone living in harmony?
Since when has that ever even appeared to happen?
Never ever but since they are so into religion i figured they'd be into the whole "jesus love you" thing. :)

I do actually wonder if the death of the leader and his protested, ridiculed funeral may actually change the minds of at least some of them, when they're gathered around, saying goodbye to a family member they loved, and a few hundred people show up in clown outfits and Village People lookalikes, chanting 'ding Dong the Witch is dead', 'God Hates Fred!', 'He's gonna burn in hell forever!' and they see the utter lack of humanity in doing something like that, well it's not gonna shake the devout nutters, but the ones on the outer edges could be shaken out of the idiotic behaviour.

Of course the deepset loonies don't even see gay people as human, so it won't change them.

Something I recently heard on 'The Bugle' a podcast by Jon Oliver and Andy Zaltzman, a weekly satircal look at the news, was about a hate group who got sued for $9 million over anti gay actions.

Surely this is the way forward, hate people all you like, but do you have the balls to put your money where your hate spewing mouth is, considering their signs look like they cost about a buck fifty, I'd say they'd really have to consider how much hate they can afford.

If they get a judge telling em, 'do that again and damages will total $5 million, meaning we will sell your family homes and turn you out on the street, and give all the proceeds to gays to spend on lube, buttplugs and musicals tickets', I'd says even the most bigoted fool would be ordering a bank statement and doing some sums before organising the next rally.

Fred Phelps is 80. So, just enough time to get a whole bunch of people organised and picket his upcoming funeral, eh?
Someone may have beaten me to this, but I'd rather not wade through what is going on 8 pages now to see. I'll forget what I was going to say.

Shall we picket this asshole's funeral while playing Dio?

I suggest you play this.

I've just watched Louis Theroux's documentary about these guys, and what comes across along with the idiotic hate, is the sorrow I feel for the kids of that family. the younger ones don't understand, and one gets hit by stuff thrown from a passing car, and he can't understand why people hate him. The older ones have been brought up to believe true friendship or love cannot exist without marriage, so they're going thru their formative years not understanding what it's like to be a normal social human being.

I think if this happened in the UK, the government would step in and claim these children, take them away from their unhinged parents. (I'm not knocking america here, btw), I just think, damn, it's borderline child abuse what they're doing to bring up children to be so twisted.

I also found it interesting that Sam, one of her many sons, was born out of wedlock, a sinner and therefore damned to hell...except that Jesus died to pay for her sins, so that's ok, except it doesn't apply to anyone but her it seems.

Phelps's going to hit the fan soon enough. When that happens, I propose we all take turns shitting on his grave the same way he shat on the graves of other respectable citizens.
Oh hell, why not just build an outhouse ontop of his grave. That way everybody can pay their "respects" to "pastor" Fred Phelps.

I am so fucking glad people like that don't have any real sway here in the UK. If I was in the USA I would probably try a 4chan-style raid on the WBC, complete with rainbow flags and 'Horns of Rock'. And probably try and hire a sniper to take out the boss guy there, whatever his name was. The head twat, basically. Seriously.
Someone did.

I'm sad to know that so called Christians do these like this. It's people like this that make us christians look bad. While I don't nececcesarly support black sabath and their ideals, I definitly dont support this church in their protests.

I have never heard of christians picketing funerals of American. Protesting at the funerals of people who gave their lives for our country is just sad.

The Phelps family and their 'church' are a bad example of Christians everywhere. They pervert the message with their vile hate and make people think that Christians are all hate-mongering jerks.

I think the best thing to do with them is to ignore them. They have stated that they will keep doing what they do if they get people to be angry at them. To them, the hate that others hold for them is proof of God approving their actions.

So, I figure that if the news and other people ignored them then they might just go away.

Good lord...it's people like this that give Christians a bad name. I sincerely apologize for the fanatical lemmings that pretend to share my beliefs.
yeah it is sad aint it. What i do love though is how out there and ridiculous it all i, They point blankly take the main message of the point of christianity and reverse it, saying god doesnt love everyone and you will burn in hell if you dont follow our ways :p

forgetting jesus was jewish and stated pretty much that if you lived a good kind life and respected each other we'd all be fine pretty much.

im not the best christian an stuff but i know im better than these "people"

Those clowns keep finding ways of antagonizing people. Sad.

Is anyone here law savvy to know whether or not their antics are fully covered by the First Ammendment?
Sadly, as long as it's peaceful (i.e. no violence, and the people picketing can't be trespassing or bar people from entering) it's covered under Free Speech.

OT: These kind of people piss me off. It's because of people like WBC that we have the misguided trend to label everyone with faith as a psychopathic nutjob.

You're doing more harm than good, fundies! Can it already!

EDIT: Fundimentalists kinda remind me of that one skit by...George Carlin, I think.

Person 1: "Do you believe in God"
Person 2: "Yes"
Person 1: "Do you believe in MY God"
Person 2: "No"
*headshot*

Why would you protest against a funeral. That just seems stupid to me. Let those close to him grieve.
They picket the funerals of American Soldiers as well, holding up signs such as 'God Hates Fags'.
Well they should stop doing that then. It would make everyone that much happier.
I know a lot of people don't like him, but one good thing Bush did to try and stop these nutjobs was sign the "Respect America's Fallen Heroes Act". In essence, it places a buffer zone between protesters and mourners for funerals on national cemeteries. The protesters can not come within 300 feet of the funeral from an hour before it begin to an hour after it ends, or else face a $100,000 fine and up to a year in prison.

To solve the problem, do one of the following

1. Get all the Phelps and one by one, put them in the ring against Fedor Emelianenko

2. Announce a fake location of the funeral, well away from the public, than do a tactical airstrike of the entire area

This may be the way forward, sure you hate fags, or pro choice people, or blacks, or jews, but there's the big question now, do you have $100,000 worth of hate for them? Or can you not afford to hate them today and need to go save up to hate them next year?

You know, one question that came to mind for me, when reading about them.

'Do you lot believe that Heaven consists of God, a few angels and your family, as you believe that all other christians and everyone else is going to Hell?'

I know we can't make them look any more idiotic, but I do wonder if she truly believes she's going to an empty Heaven.[
