Jin sits down, and a plate in his pocket falls out. It was flat with small stones on it. He picked it up and looked at it for no particular reason, when something caught his eye. "Jio. Jio." Jin spoke in a low hiss, hoping the others wouldn't hear. Jio looked at him, and Jin waved him over.
"What is it?"
"This!" Jin shoves the device into Jio's hand.
Jio notices the strange thing has 10 small stones arranged into two rows, each with a number below it. 1i, 2i, 3i, all the way to 10i. "What is this?" There was obvious concern in his voice.
"What do you think it is? Don't ask stupid questions. Do you see what I see?"
Jio takes another look at the device and he most certainly sees what Jin sees. One of the stones is discolored a different color from the others. It is a very faint reaction, but it is a reaction. As Jio observes, though, the stone's color fades until it is just like the others. He hands it back to Jin. "It's gone, now. What does it mean?"
"How should I know? Think we should tell the others?"
Jio thinks for a moment and looks at the others. "No, not right now. They have enough to worry about. Besides that might be a mistake. Right?"
"I doubt it. But it was a weak reaction. Maybe whatever it was is weak. Or, at least, very far away. But in that case, it's very worrying. How would we have a reaction, even a weak one, from such a distance?"
"Who knows? Better not worry about it right now. You'll grow gray hair." Jio smiles at his friend.
"You're one to talk. Half your hair is white." Jin smiled back.
