These are complicated questions. Vampires are not that well understood in Skyrim, for obvious reasons. What we do know is that they can no longer eat or drink most substances, save for a few like water. Blood is required to keep one's mind intact, but why that is, or how it can cure a vampire who has already gone mad, we do not know. The sense of touch is still there, but it is altered. I hardly feel te cold any more, even when it is very extreme. Many wounds do not hurt as severely as they once did, though the time I was shot in the chest certainly did. And fire... She shuddered involuntarily. Fire is unimaginably painful. Again, we know little of why the affliction causes these symptoms.

As she thought, AEanna also listened to Charlotte.
"I see... so, the things that you feared when we last met, those fears have been laid to rest?"

And no scholar ever bothered to find out why this is? Has no one ever disected a corpse of a vampire to see just exactly how difrent it is from any other creature?
A cure to the curse could be there, waiting to be discovered. But no, instead vampires are put to the sword.
