Garrus stood by as Saressa and Joe tended to Winter, his mandibles twitching in agitation. He could only pick out a small amount of what she was saying, but a pang of uncertainty nagged at him, suggesting that he should not have been so quick to stop Javik. He cursed to himself on hearing the Cutting Blade's final transmission.
"What monster? How can we stop it?" Saressa asked urgently.
The VI programs operating on each Turian fighter were sophisticated and effective, and most of the pilots were able to avoid the incoming fire with the aid of the data provided. Several fighters took the hits directly and although their kinetic barriers held out against many of the impacts, three of them shimmered and flashed out, and the fighters were engulfed in streaming fireballs before blowing themselves apart in a shower ofwreckage. The fighters scattered and reformed facing the ship, each pilot switching to highly accurate Javelin missiles to save the much more powerful, less numerous Thanix weapons.
OOC: We'll say that four formations deployed, so twenty fighters.
