Grace sighed at what Kefka said. She walked a little close to Mia and waited to see if she would be needed.

@Outis: Don't you think that's a bit hypocritical of Gerry, given that Grace killed Erica when she wanted to die and he defended her?

He defended her, not because he agreed with her, but because he just cares about her that much. And, for all she knows, Mia is just a little down in the dumps, so of course Grace would try to make her feel better.

Grace put her arms around Mia and gently led her over to the couch. She sat down, still keeping Mia in the tight, warm embrace. "Tell me, dear, what is it that troubles you?" she asked in a soft, motherly tone.

Grace hugged her again, Mia's head now resting on her bosom. "It's alright, dear. Where does this pain come from?" she asked in the same, soothing tone. She also started channeling a small amount of calming energy into Mia.

"I've seen soldiers who suffer from the same mental problems, no one ever recovered from it.
Either they sit in a padded room 'til the end of their days, or they're euthanised."

"There must be a way to alleviate this pain though." Grace said as she stroked Mia's hair and increased the flow of calming energy.

"Beyond help? No. I will not make that mistake again." she said firmly to Kefka.

Grace kept her voice calm as she spoke to Mia again. "It continues to hurt because you let it, dear. You must let go of this pain, focus on new and better experiences." she said. As she spoke, she ended the calming spell and started the healing spell she used on Erica. Now instead of feeling calmer, Mia started feeling pleasure.
