The chineze kid lost Gerry, and sighed, [sub]"I don't want mommy to die..."[/sub] he muttered, walking around the ship, hoping to find someone who was on the list of people he could give the message too.

Well, to explain the name situation, its simple:
It had no name, and he talked to Erica. Erica decided it needed a name. The Guardian, flaming mad at the time, decided on the name Karkat, for no reason.
Now all we need is for @Trilby to bring the Real Karkat and for complete confusion to ensue.
